We continue together the discovery of my favorite sewing projects from the second half of 2022. If you want to see those from the first semester, it’s here.
So, what do you think I selected for the second semester of 2022?
I’ll show you everything!

July
I’m a fan of the Wanted t-shirt by Vanessa Pouzet and now she’s released the dress version! Of course, I fell for it and I also had a red interlock jersey from Mind the maker that had been calling to me for a while... it was the perfect combination!
What we love about the Wanted dress is obviously its square neckline but also its circle skirt that twirls and takes us back to childhood.
August
In August, I treated myself and sewed again a pattern I had made at the beginning of my sewing journey... the Flo dress from Maison Victor.
I really enjoyed sewing it with its little retro touch. I had two small pieces of Japanese cotton lawn from the brand Kokka in a pretty green color. I lined the bodice and left the skirt in a single layer of fabric.
I love this model which once again has a skirt that twirls thanks to its many pleats!
September
In September, I had fun creating the serger introduction course for the workshop classes. Indeed, many of you were asking for training to get comfortable with the serger. So I got to work to review the technical concepts, settings, fabrics to sew, and create exercises for the students. This gave me the chance to sew a t-shirt completely on the serger. By the way, I plan to sew more in 2023 inspired by the beautiful t-shirts made throughout the year by my students... there were quite a few gems and I’m super proud of them!
The full article about the t-shirt is here
Well, I couldn’t resist cheating a little... 😂 so I’m going to talk to you about my shoelaces! It’s a simple little sewing project even kids can do to customize sneakers... It’s fun to make and creates a great look!
For this, just choose a fabric with a small pattern from your scraps (that will work perfectly) and have the lace tips. The assembly is very simple and there are even several techniques that I detail in the full article here.
October
In October, I fell in love with the pretty Cléo dress from Fibremood with its puff sleeves, stitched skirt panels, the detail of the snaps (or buttons) on the back, and the belt that cinches the waist. In short, I found it feminine and perfect for a mid-season dress!
I selected a red millerais velvet from the shop and got to work. It’s a dress that takes quite some time because all the seams are topstitched. So it requires patience and care. Nevertheless, it’s really worth it and I’m delighted with my little dress for which I receive many compliments.
I really want to sew another version, maybe next year, maybe in a toile de jeans.
November
In November, I once again combined my passions for sewing and embroidery to create an embroidered fanny pack. I have been embroidering since I was 5 years old and this passion renewed itself with sewing to create unique pieces!
This time, I had a small piece of blue denim and a scrap of fuchsia twill... which gave me the idea to make a two-tone fanny pack with a sakura flower pattern (Japanese cherry blossoms). So I drew the flower design on solufix and stuck it on the denim so I could embroider them before assembling the fanny pack.
I embroidered the design with DMC stranded cotton threads and metallic effect thread from the same brand. Embroidery actually took the most time in this project.
Once the embroidery was finished, I rinsed my solufix in cold water which dissolved, and I could start assembling my bag.
I installed a zipper by the meter with a double slider. I worked on the lining and then assembled everything.
I’m super proud of this original sewing project that you won’t see everywhere... I hope to one day take it to Japan... I’m sure it would be quite popular.
December
In December, I pulled out my pretty Mrs. Claus look with the Hathor vest from Iam Patterns.
I love the body warmer concept. Hathor is quite versatile because it allows you to play with pockets, with or without zippers, with or without a hood, even making a reversible version...
I was thrilled to have this model to upcycle a pretty vintage embroidered fabric gifted by my mother-in-law. This fabric is somewhat of a little antique brought back over 40 years ago in a suitcase from a trip to Pakistan. It therefore has sentimental and heritage value. I absolutely wanted to do it justice!
I’m super happy with my red and white sewing project for which I also receive many compliments.
I’m delighted to have once again reviewed the "best" sewing projects of 2022. I hope 2023 will bring me as much joy and sewing projects that boost self-confidence, wonder, and sharing.
By the way, I decided to rename my "to do" project list to "wish list," it puts less pressure 😂 because there are so many patterns catching my eye that it’s endless! I gave in and bought more in 2022... 😂 you can’t change! Anyway, it will be an opportunity to make nice articles in 2023.
So, this concludes the recap of my favorite sewing projects of 2022 but not the 2022 review because I still have to share the overall review 😊 as this year has been crazy for c’est du joly! We’ll talk about it soon...
And you, do you have favorite sewing projects made in 2022? What would you like to sew in 2023?
In any case... once again... get your needles ready!
