The Omsk dress from the Louis Antoinette patterns

For the record, as I write to you, the brand Louis Antoinette is unfortunately stopping its production :-(
Yet, their women's patterns are really chic, original, modern, and professionally designed. You can still find them in PDF at a reduced price on the brand website like the Omsk dress which is now priced at 5 euros or in printed format in some haberdasheries that might not have sold out their stock yet or even second-hand on specialized sites (Facebook page).

That said, I love their patterns... I had already made the Los Angeles dress then transformed it into a top and received many compliments. So, I’m still giving you a review of my little gem, the Omsk dress.

My Los Angeles top

The Omsk dress is a modern dress designed through a partnership between Louis Antoinette and the IFA fashion school in Paris. The model was imagined by the students who wanted to create a "show-stopping" dress, fitted with a wide attached belt, and adjustable thanks to the seams.
The brand recommends choosing light, flowing fabrics like viscose, crepe, satin, cotton...
For my part, I chose a colorful Japanese fabric 100% cotton with a turquoise background and patterns in pink tones coming from Nippori in Tokyo, and to make it really eye-catching I chose a neon pink piping.

Another advantage of this dress is that it is not fabric-hungry:
- for sizes 34 to 38: 155X140 or 200X110
- for sizes 40 to 46: 180X140 or 250X110
It's great of Louis Antoinette to specify the yardage in a width of 110cm because I work a lot with Japanese fabrics and often buy 2m. So it was perfect.

Assembling the PDF poses no difficulty; the instructions are very clear. Cutting the pieces according to your size is easy because seam allowances are included. Notches are well placed and therefore facilitate assembly.
The dress is offered from size 34 to 46 with:
- bust circumference between 79 and 106cm
- waist circumference between 59 and 86cm
- hip circumference between 85 and 112cm.

The indicated level to make this dress is 2/4 according to Louis Antoinette's ranking, that is, intermediate level. I find there are quite a few technical points so I would tend to say it is accessible for an intermediate level with guidance or if the person is very resourceful.

Here are the technical points:
- creation of even gathers for the bodice and skirt
- Assembly of the bodice with the shoulder yoke
- application of piping if desired on shoulder yokes, waistband, and pocket
- making the armholes with ruffle application
- application of armhole facings and collar facing
- creation of darts and skirt pockets
- installation of the invisible zipper
- for those who wish, lining assembly.
The biggest challenge for an intermediate level seems to me to be assembling the pockets and the sleeves.

The indicated assembly time is 6h and the preparation time is 2h (to trace/cut the pattern and cut the fabric). I find this quite realistic as a stated time.

For my version, I chose to add piping to the shoulder yokes and at the pockets.
I also chose to apply a clean bias tape along the collar facing and not to line the skirt.

I made no pattern modifications for size 36. It's perfect!

Don't hesitate to tell me if you also like this pattern.
