Charlotte Auzou invites us, through this book, to create 18 women's clothing models with the help of well-documented lessons and step-by-step instructions.
The challenge of making these patterns accessible even to beginners is completely successful!
Indeed, Charlotte Auzou guides us through 16 richly illustrated lessons to make darts, apply an invisible bias, sew a sleeve, sew scallops... For those who have already bought the book Learn to Sew Your Clothes and Accessories by the same author, you will find partly the same explanations in this volume.
In this book, you will find models evoking city names often offered in 2 versions:
- Hong Kong: a top buttoned at the back and a dress buttoned at the front
- Mexico: a top and a summer dress, both with spaghetti straps crossed at the back
- London: a top and a wrap dress
- Lisbon: a top and a dress with an elasticated belt and a knotted yoke at the back
- Los Angeles: a blouse and a straight scalloped dress (neckline, hem...)
- New York: a top and 1 piped dress with the option to make them with or without knife pleats
- Stockholm: a top and 1 dress with adorable cap sleeves
- Hanoi: 1 top and 1 gathered dress buttoned at the front
- Montréal: 1 top and 1 fitted peplum dress
I fell for several models! My favorite is the Montréal top, a V-neck top with a peplum that I made in several colors. It is elegant with a straight skirt or more casual with pants. The second model I chose is the London wrap top that I made in a beautiful Japanese fabric.

The 2 pattern sheets are printed double-sided. The models are shown in two colors: turquoise and fuchsia. Seam allowances are not included on the sheet; you need to add them by referring to the step-by-step instructions which clearly describe the additions to be made and include a cutting plan. Reading the pattern sheet is relatively simple, the pieces are well spaced and reading it is easier. Each size is clearly identified by a specific pattern of the line used. Sizes from XS (34) to XXL (44) correspond to bust measurements between 80 and 100 cm, waist measurements between 62 and 82 cm, and hip measurements between 86 and 106 cm.
To go further, Atelier Charlotte Auzou offers ideas for customizations or modifications, for those who feel more comfortable and want to personalize their creations. Thus, she advises you to vary the fabrics, materials, replace buttons with snaps... depending on the patterns offered.
