Atelier Charlotte Auzou invites us to discover 20 lessons and to create 12 projects whose level is truly well suited for beginners in sewing.
The step-by-step guides help to understand the stages and complete beautiful sewing projects that build confidence and satisfaction with the final result.

Thus, each project is designed to illustrate one or several sewing techniques. Throughout the pages and for each new project, a new technique is explained. If you complete all the projects in chronological order, by the end of the book you will be able to:
- make a hem
- sew flat-felled seams
- master the technique of applying visible and invisible bias tape
- sew darts
- attach a facing
- make gathers
- assemble a collar and sleeves (set-in and kimono)
- install a separating zipper and an invisible zipper
- sew piping.
In short, a nice overview of basic sewing techniques!
The step-by-step instructions are clear and illustrated with photos for the more complicated steps. Additionally, 5 technique videos are available via a QR code.
Atelier Charlotte Auzou also gives us advice on choosing materials to start sewing, on the pre-project steps, and offers a very useful glossary.
The offered models are simple, rather classic, and ones you can be proud to wear and mix and match. They are available in 4 sizes (S, M, L, XL).
Thus, the following are offered:
- a customizable scarf
- a tank top
- a wrap skirt and a gathered skirt
- 3 dresses: a straight dress with a belt, a classic straight dress, a fitted dress
- a blouse with a contrasting yoke
- a biker jacket
- shorts
- a reversible bag and a padded printed.

The pattern sheet is printed double-sided. The models are shown in two colors: turquoise and fuchsia. Seam allowances are not included on the sheet; you must add them by referring to the step-by-step guide which clearly describes the additions to make and includes a cutting layout. Reading the pattern sheet is relatively simple. A beginner might, however, be a little puzzled by copying the facings which are "included" in the piece to which they will be sewn. Each size is clearly identified by a specific line style. Sizes from S to XL correspond to bust measurements between 84 and 96 cm, waist measurements between 66 and 78 cm, and hip measurements between 90 and 102 cm. It is therefore better to check your own measurements because if you have so-called "plus size" measurements, you will need to adjust the pattern or look for another publication better suited to your shape.
To go further, Atelier Charlotte Auzou offers ideas for customizations or modifications, for those who feel more comfortable and want to personalize their creations. Thus, she advises varying fabrics, materials, lengths... according to the proposed models.
As for me, I made the wrap skirt in a magnificent wax fabric from Vlisco, the reversible bag, and the blouse with yoke. And I have not finished exploring this book because I really want to start making the biker jacket in sweatshirt fabric and why not a padded printed?
