On the occasion of the launch of our new product: "les joly coupons" I wanted to review the pattern models to combine within 3m of fabric.
You fell for our 3-meter fabric coupons but haven't yet found how to use them? You go to the haberdashery and can't leave without that gorgeous fabric catching your eye?
No worries! I'll give you some tips and ideas!
We all agree that in an ideal world, it's better to have your project and fabric length before going to the haberdashery. However, sometimes a fabric calls to you and it's then mission impossible to leave without it... In those cases, I always recommend taking 3m of fabric (whether 110cm or 140cm wide) because it allows you to make many projects!
I have selected patterns requiring about 3m of fabric (140cm wide) to make the best use of your coupon.
Alright, let's get started with the ideas!

The dresses
With a 3m coupon, we naturally think of dresses, especially wrap dresses, long-sleeved, long, flared skirts, ruffled... which use a lot of fabric but are so beautiful!
Most dresses up to size 44/46 fit into a 3m coupon. For sizes beyond 44/46, it is important to refer to the required supplies chart.
I have selected for you some well-known dresses from the sewing world that require these fabric lengths:
- the Adrianna dress from Coralie Bijasson
- the Magnolia from Deer and Doe short version up to the largest size
- the Annie dress from Coralie Bijasson
- the Austeen dress from Coralie Bijasson
- the stunning Jeanne dress from Atelier Bernie (depending on version)
- the Joséphine dress from Atelier Bernie (depending on version)
- the George dress from Atelier Bernie
- the Angela dress from Atelier Bernie
- the Nina dress from Atelier Bernie
- the Marty blouse, shirt, and dress from Iam Patterns (depending on version)
- the Cassiopée dress from Iam Patterns up to size 52
- the Cinderella dress from Iam Patterns in all its versions
- the Irma shirt dress from Iam Patterns depending on versions
- the Rachel dress from Atelier des premières
- the Audrey dress from Atelier des premières
- the Butterfly dress from Atelier Brunette up to size 46
- the Léna dress from Ikatee

The Audrey dress from Atelier des premières
There are many designs allowing almost full use of your coupon. You will also find plenty of options in magazines like Fibremood, fait main, ... which are full of ideas.
For dresses, choose coupons of cotton poplin, double gauze, viscose, cotton jersey... depending on the model and the desired look.

Skirts
There are quite a few skirts that require a large amount of fabric, especially circle skirts or those with many ruffles. A 3-meter coupon will therefore be perfect for making such skirts. There are also many skirt patterns that require less fabric; you can then take the opportunity to make a skirt and a matching top in the same fabric.
Among skirts requiring about 3m of fabric, we can mention:
- The Fumeterre skirt from Deer and doe
- The Bohème skirt from Vanessa Pouzet
- The Jaya skirt from P&M patterns
The longer and fuller the skirt, the more fabric will be needed.

Jackets and coats
With 3m of fabric, you can make quite a few jackets and coats! Indeed, these pieces generally require a large amount of fabric.
- the Opium coat from Deer and doe
- the Nour pea coat from Coralie Bijasson
- the lovely Jacques raincoat from Iam Patterns
- the Ré duffle coat from Iam Patterns
- the Harry cape from Iam Patterns
- the Merlin coat from Iam Patterns up to size 44
- an Alexandra blazer from Atelier des premières
For some, it will of course be necessary to complete their purchases with lining.

Pants
Pants can require a large amount of fabric when the legs are wide or for larger sizes. Indeed, the yardage will be greatly influenced by the ability to position the leg pieces (front and back) either in the same width or offset.
If you need to shift them, then a 3m coupon is perfect for making your project!
Here are some pants that require a large amount of fabric (in all sizes)
- Genêt by Deer and Doe fits in 3m up to size 60 or the Narcisse pants
- The Mencia pants by Atelier des premières
- The pants by Atelier Brunette
- the Thai pants
and why not overalls?

Jumpsuits
Jumpsuits also use quite a bit of fabric and are a great way to make good use of all the 3m coupons!
- The eucalyptus model by Deer and Doe (short version) fits in a 3m coupon up to size 60 and the sirocco (pants version) fits up to size 52.
- The Angkor jumpsuit by Coralie Bijasson
- The Astrid jumpsuit by Coralie Bijasson
It is also possible to create "false sets" by combining a blouse/top pattern with a shorts/pants/skirt pattern to create an outfit. These two pieces separately use about 1.5m of fabric and combined will allow you to fully use your coupon.
You will then have two pieces to wear separately or together to create the illusion of a dress or jumpsuit.
