Vacation is coming and I really wanted to sew myself a new travel pouch. The current one was one of my first sewing projects and was really starting to wear out!
Plus, I had received the new patterns from Ikatee including the "Travel" luggage set which brings together in the same printed pattern: travel bags in different sizes and a toiletry pouch.
Without hesitation, I got a printed to create my personalized pouch!
Let me tell you about my quilted pouch creative adventure!

The pattern
As I mentioned earlier, I chose the Ikatee travel pouch model from the travel set.
I chose the pouch model for this project.
The printed costs €16 and is available in store or on our webshop.
The different models offered in the printed are classified at an intermediate sewing level.
My supplies
I chose to recycle leftover poplins to make my pouch.
I had some leftover fuchsia twill from my embroidered fanny pack, floral Japanese poplin with cat motifs from my boyfriend’s shirt and a bit of floral Michael Miller poplin from my Gaïa top by Iam Patterns.
An explosion of colors that go really well together, all that was left to do!
For the quilting, I wanted to make life easier for us so I fused the pieces to be quilted with H630 fusible interfacing. It's just perfect to give the quilted effect, without being too thick and... it sticks so it doesn't move when quilting and that's really nice!
For quilting, I chose a fuchsia thread that matched the floral patterns of the Japanese poplin.
For the zipper pull, we opted for a zipper by the meter on which we put two sliders facing each other so it can be opened both ways.

Technical points
To make the quilted printed, there are a few interesting technical points:
- installing the zipper
- attaching zipper tape finishing
- applying fusible interfacing (in our case with a pressing cloth)
- quilting
- creating an inner compartmentalized pocket
- attaching the lining
- creating a loop.
My sewing experience
We chose to quilt the printed with closely spaced vertical lines (the edge of the presser foot). This allowed for very tight quilting lines since our project is small in size.
This was the step that took the most time in the end. The assembly itself is very simple if you follow the instructions in the booklet provided in the printed. There's even a video for those who prefer it.
I don't regret choosing a zipper by the meter on which we placed two sliders. In use, it's really convenient to be able to open my printed with these two sliders.
There you go, I'm ready to take off on vacation and I'm super happy with my pretty floral travel printed. With its retro vibe, I really like it a lot!
Come on, now all that's left is to get started on the travel bag to go with it!
