October 18 will mark the grand opening of our second haberdashery and workshop! We are thrilled and of course a bit stressed 😬
It’s a big challenge for me and my small team... which doubles with the opening! I who promised myself not to do team management anymore, 3 years ago 😂 we forget quickly. However, to my defense, it must be said that it’s very different because today, I can choose to work with people I get along with and I can also choose to stop working with those I don’t!
I choose to surround myself with passionate and fascinating sewing, knitting, and crochet professionals with values that match mine.
I reassure regulars, a bit stressed, yes the new ones are kind and caring... I don’t want to work with harpies 😂
By the way, for recruitment, we were looking for gems who were:
- as kind, gentle, and skilled as Marie
- as efficient and sensible as Céline
- and who would "match" with me (and my standards) and Gaetan.
If you want to get to know them, the full article with their portrait is here.
By the way, we have a little surprise for you... because the team will evolve again in November with the arrival of Justine, a lively young woman, full of common sense, and with well-developed creativity! But shh 🤫 I won’t say more and I promise to give you a detailed portrait when she arrives.
Let's get back to our sheep and alpaca... and others because yes, we are on it and working like Santa's elves to have everything ready for the big day: we order, calculate, look for the best decorations, supplies... because our big opening weekend will take place:
When: Saturday, October 18 and 19 from 10am to 6pm
Where: 328 avenue Georges Henri in 1200 Woluwe Saint Lambert
What:
- discover our new range of yarn, embroidery, and fabrics,
- join our coupons fair
- ask your questions about the courses and supplies,
- take part in our surprise event for customers during this great weekend
- have a refreshment with us.

The week of October 13: what's happening?
Courses: The courses will start on Monday 10/13 and we will be delighted to welcome our first students in a new bright and well-equipped course space 😊 with great teachers.
During this week, the store doors will already be open and you will be able to meet the new team and buy your first wonders in yarn, fabrics, embroidery... among a wider, very very wide selection for yarn 🧶. It will still be a week of trial and tidying so please be kind and patient with us 🤣; especially with our new recruits.
In the meantime, many of you have asked questions about the organization, the selection... so I have grouped the requests by theme which you will find below. I hope these will answer most of them.
Ixelles and Woluwe
As I announced from the start, we are maintaining all the activity of our haberdashery and workshop in Ixelles (357 avenue de la Couronne in Ixelles), that is to say the courses and the store.
This is not a move, it is really the opening of a second store in Woluwe (328 Avenue Georges Henri in Woluwe); so no worries, Ixelles remains open for all the people in the neighborhood and surroundings.
Hours :
The hours in Ixelles do not change and those in Woluwe will be the same for convenience:
- Monday to Friday from 11 am to 6 pm
- Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm
- Sunday: closed day
Where exactly is the new haberdashery? How to get there?
Our new location is at 328, avenue Georges Henri in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, in one of the nicest neighborhoods of Woluwe Saint Lambert featuring quality shops: excellent bakeries like Fiston with its exceptional croissants, but also Levain which offers us traditional sourdough and organic bread... but that's not all; ice cream shops including the excellent Pépé who won the title of best ice cream maker in Belgium in 2025 for his artisanal ice creams! There are also cafés, restaurants of various cultures: burger, Asian, Italian, Middle Eastern... in short, you won’t go hungry... and you can also eat after your shopping.
There are also plenty of shops for shopping or "magasiner" as our dear Quebec friends say.
Coming by car
Not surprisingly (and yes, we are in Brussels...) the store does not have its own parking. However, it is possible to park on the street, which is paid, which has the advantage that people do not "park" for too long and spots free up quite quickly.
The streets adjacent to avenue Georges Henri are not paid but require a parking disc. You will have to walk a bit more, but it is easier to find a spot there.
Getting to the Woluwe workshop by public transport :
- Tram 7 or 25 (George Henri stop) - 4 min walk
- Metro 1 (Joséphine Charlotte stop) - 9 min walk
- Metro 1 (Montgomery stop) - 9 min walk
- Metro 1 or 5 (Mérode stop) - 12 min walk
- Train (Mérode stop) - 12 min walk
- Train (Etterbeek station) then take the connection with tram 7 towards Heyzel or tram 25 towards Roger until the George Henri stop - 4 min walk
- Train (Central Station) then take the connection with metro line 1 towards Stockel until the Joséphine Charlotte stop - 9 minutes on foot

Our courses: What do you offer at both locations?
Our workshops in Ixelles and Woluwe offer a variety of courses including sewing, knitting, crochet, and embroidery.
We try our best to vary days and times so everyone can find a class time that suits them.
However, some specific courses are offered once (maximum twice) a year, like coat or jeans courses... So don’t hesitate to sign up if you want to take them.
Other courses will only be offered at one site; for example, pattern making can only be held in Woluwe due to space availability. So there’s no point in waiting for this module to be offered in Ixelles, there isn’t enough room 😅 at the moment.
Finally, some courses like knitting, embroidery, and crochet are taught by one person, so the class days depend on their schedule.
For example, the currently available slots for knitting will be:
- Woluwe: Monday evening and Thursday afternoon
- Ixelles: Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning
Another example for crochet
- Woluwe: Tuesday
- Ixelles: Thursday and Friday evenings
Occasionally on Saturdays 😊
Can I take courses at both locations to better fit my schedule?
Yes, yes, and 100 times yes! That’s the whole advantage of the "C'est du Joly" teaching method. Our course formats and learning path have been designed so that you can take courses at both locations.
For example, start with the module 'I discover sewing' in Ixelles and continue with the module "I sew my first garment" in Woluwe. Our teachers have been trained to deliver the same content in these course formats; so you will gain the same skills at the different locations and by taking courses with different teachers.
Don’t be afraid to change teachers, it’s actually very educational 😊!
Free project workshops: What are they? How do they work?
We offer free project sewing workshops in Ixelles and Woluwe. These workshops are designed to support you in all your sewing projects. You choose the theme, the pattern, etc. Our teachers are here to guide you based on your level if you hesitate, and they will assist you in your creations. Whether you are at the beginning of your sewing journey or looking for challenges at an advanced level, our teachers will support you in a way that suits your level, with kindness and a smile.
These workshops are accessible to people who have already completed the module: I discover sewing and I sew my first garment or have equivalent experience.
How does it work?
The open workshop includes:
- 10 x 2h30 of sewing accompanied by an experienced teacher
- provision of basic materials: scissors, pins, thread…
- smiles, kindness, and respect for everyone
- Drinks are offered.
The participant chooses a time slot (for example Friday at 3:30 pm, Saturday at 10 am...) and commits to attending the 10 sessions within 3 months from the first course date (excluding major holiday periods). If the person has to be absent more than twice, we organize make-up sessions in other groups so that the courses are not lost for the participant. Plus, this allows you to discover a new teacher and/or other course participants and have a good time because all our groups are great with a very nice atmosphere.
New
It is now possible to pick up your courses in Ixelles or Woluwe 😊 This gives you more available time slots.
Assortments and supplies: what can you find in both stores?
Let's be honest, there will obviously be more supplies in Woluwe... it makes sense because the store is twice as big 😊 However, that certainly doesn't mean we will empty the Ixelles store!
You will still find in Ixelles: fabrics and our beautiful selection of Japanese fabrics, haberdashery, DMC wool, classic embroidery (DMC) and Japanese embroidery (Olympus, Daruma...) and our famous 3m coupons!
In Woluwe, we will greatly expand the wool selection with new brands of very high quality.
We will also expand the range of fabrics and classic embroidery simply because we have more space to spread out 😂... yes, space is a topic!
So overall, you will have more choice 😊
Will the fabrics be the same in Woluwe and Ixelles?
You will find the same basic selection of fabrics, especially solids: cotton poplin, cotton satin, gabardines, cotton jersey...
What will vary the most are the patterned fabrics; this will allow us to offer you an even more diverse selection.
Yes, I know some will be happy to have a little less floral, but what can you do, you can't change who you are!
How can I find out what is in the store before my visit?
Starting October 13, you will see on the website, at the very bottom of the product description, a note stating "This product is available in our store.....".
You will be able to see if it is available in both stores or in just one of the two.
A little tip for fabrics: at the time of the opening, we will offer you lots of new patterned fabrics at Woluwe; a heads-up for enthusiasts!
Shipping and in-store pickup: can I pick up fabric or wool from the Woluwe store at Ixelles?
We of course continue shipping throughout Europe (except Switzerland and overseas territories) to home and relay points and we are strengthening in-store pickups.
What changes is that you will be able to pick up your orders in our Woluwe or Ixelles store regardless of where the goods are located. It will therefore be possible to pick up in the Ixelles store products only available at Woluwe and vice versa 😊. This will save you a trip.
Note that orders with in-store pickup containing products from the other store will take 48 business hours to process (weekends excluded). This means an order placed on Monday will be ready for pickup on Wednesday; an order placed on Friday will be ready on Tuesday.
Loyalty card and customer account
A customer account is necessary to accumulate and spend your loyalty points; as well as to get discount vouchers. This account allows you to identify yourself during your purchases and when you want to benefit from discounts. The customer account is the same for the website and the loyalty card. Your loyalty card and account are valid on the website, in our Ixelles and Woluwe stores. How does it work and how to spend your points? It's right here
Gift cards
If you want to make your loved ones or friends happy (or if you want to guide them to give you a gift 😂), a C'est du Joly gift card will be perfect!
The card can be used to buy: fabric and haberdashery,... wool, embroidery supplies,... pattern pouches or PDFs, or why not a course in our premises?
The gift card is valid for 12 months and can be used in-store at Ixelles or Woluwe or online.
You receive it automatically by email, no need to wait for delivery to make someone happy!
You can also buy it in-store 😊
I already have a gift card; is it valid in the Woluwe store?
Yes, cards purchased before the opening of the Woluwe store can be used there.

I hope this article was able to answer all your questions 😊
We can't wait to welcome you to our new premises... I put all my heart into it and I hope you will like it.
See you soon,
Eugénie and the whole team
