Our favorite patterns by Coralie Bijasson

At the workshop and in the shop, we have always been won over by the work of Coralie Bijasson.

This conscientious pattern maker offers us well-designed models, easy to wear in everyday life as well as for special occasions! When a few weeks ago, Coralie informed us of her intention to stop her creation and pattern distribution activity, it was a real thunderclap in a clear sky!

We love her work so much that it was truly a great loss for the sewing community... Fortunately, Coralie wanted to continue distributing her PDF patterns and she chose our site for the French-speaking community. We are delighted to continue distributing her incredible work because Coralie Bijasson has more than 120 PDF patterns (and we still have some printed) to dress stylishly all year round!

So, this week, I want to pay tribute to this great lady of sewing and pattern making and show you all the favorite patterns of our students and the team! I want to thank her with all my heart on my behalf but also on behalf of all my students for the wonderful collaboration we have and the beautiful patterns we sew thanks to her.

Thank you, Coralie!

Let's dive deep into Coralie's world!

Who is Coralie Bijasson?

Let's let her introduce herself!

"Graduated from the International Cutting Academy of Paris in 2009, I am passionate about the art of sewing and creating timeless clothing. Author of more than fifteen specialized books, published by recognized publishing houses, I share my expertise with a community of sewists of all levels. In 2014, I launched my own collection of sewing patterns under the brand "Coralie Bijasson®", a varied range, from easy to expert, covering sizes 34 to 56. I offer designs, accompanied by video tutorials to guide sewists at every step.

My commitment? To offer quality creations while adopting an eco-responsible approach, with patterns designed in France"

Why do we offer Coralie's patterns?

At the very beginning of C'est du Joly, in 2022 we started distributing Coralie's printed patterns because I knew the brand well and its seriousness. It was important for me to offer quality patterns for my students at the workshop and for my customers in the shop. And we have never been disappointed!

Coralie was the first designer to trust us and agree to distribute her PDF patterns via C'est du Joly. Since then, many designers have joined our PDF pattern offer. Nevertheless, II am very grateful to Coralie for this trust renewed several times and which helped give weight to our entry as a PDF pattern reseller.

We will remember her visit last year to our Ixelles store. A great moment of sharing.

Our favorite patterns at the workshop

It would really be a hassle to detail them all but I will do better and give you a ranking within our sewing groups!

- The Monday groups: Elise, Sanaz, Paul, Patrick, Adeline.
- The Tuesday group: Estelle, Namaste, Sanaz, and Alisson
- The Wednesday groups: Envie, Elise, Ethiopia, Philippe, and Ermine - so many versions we have made!

Retrospectives of what we have sewn!

Here are the models I sewed (by myself and not through the students 🤣) and I'll tell you why I sewed it.

The Emmanuelle Shirt

I sewed Emmanuelle long before C'est du Joly opened; it’s the first pattern I sewed by Coralie. At the time, I wanted to learn shirtmaking techniques and didn’t want to make a classic shirt I wouldn’t wear. I searched the internet for a feminine shirt that cinched the waist, gave room for the hips... and above all kept the technical points of a shirt. I fell for Emmanuelle! She had everything to please me. I sewed it in a blue designer wax fabric I love with its very graphic birds. To be honest, while writing this article, I’m thinking I’d like to make another one as a dress version.

Emmanuelle is available in PDF and is aimed at intermediate to advanced sewists

The Philippine pants / jeans

One of the very first to be sewn in the Ixelles shop! After sewing several jeans for Gaetan, I wanted a pair for myself. I wanted high-waisted jeans with a flare cut and I fell for the Philippine jeans!

Philippine is available in PDF and printed patterns (at the time of writing) and is aimed at advanced sewists.

The Namaste coat

Namasté is the pattern for a comfortable and warm coat you want to snuggle into in the middle of winter. As soon as it was released, I fell for this beautiful model. It was its large hood that completely won me over. I also really liked its double-breasted front and wide belt.
It features welt pockets (which is more than useful in a coat). I think it's a superb coat to face winter in style!

Plus, it’s dear to my heart because the first time I wore it was to go to RTBF, the national television channel, for my first interview on television and radio as a haberdasher. Namaste is available in PDF and printed patterns (at the time of writing) and is aimed at advanced/expert sewists.

The Eloha t-shirt

So let’s move on to a more accessible sewing project suitable from beginner level! It’s the Ehola t-shirt that Céline, Marie, and I made as a trio.
The Ehola T-shirt is an essential basic, perfect for sewists looking for a timeless feminine piece or beginners wanting to start sewing jerseys. Its boat neckline adds a touch of femininity and delicacy to this t-shirt, highlighting the décolleté for an ultra-feminine look. Whether you choose the classic round neckline or the flattering V-neck, you can be sure of a chic and comfortable silhouette. Ehola is available in PDF and printed patterns (at the time of writing) and is aimed at sewists from beginner level.

The Epoque dress

Coralie had organized a contest and I really enjoyed participating in the challenge, especially since I was on the jury. The pattern Epoque is an ode to Victorian elegance revisited for today’s tastes with 18 possible versions!

It is offered with:
- 3 different neckline options,
- 2 sleeve options,
- 3 body options.

By combining them, you get 18 possibilities with the same pattern, so it’s time to have fun!  Among the collars, you will have the choice between a flattering V-neckline, a timeless and ultra-feminine Peter Pan collar, or a gathered high collar to add a touch of sophistication.

For the sleeves, we have the choice between balloon sleeves for a romantic elegance or gigot sleeves for a bolder and very current look. Finally, for the body, we can choose between a simple silhouette, a peplum blouse for a feminine touch, or a dress for complete Victorian elegance, summer or winter.Great, isn’t it?

Epoque is available in PDF and printed patterns (at the time of writing) and is aimed at sewists from intermediate to expert level depending on the version chosen.

The Paloma trousers

I fell for the Paloma trousers by Coralie Bijasson because I find that it combines all the features of the chic trousers I love. Indeed, Paloma is trousers with clips, wide legs, and a high waist. It therefore highlights slim waists and is very feminine.
This model is closed with an invisible zipper on the side for all those who are hesitant to try a fly! I really like this cut because it shapes the silhouette well.

Paloma is available in PDF and printed patterns (at the time of writing) and is aimed at sewists from intermediate level.

The Envie t-shirt and dress

A t-shirt or a dress for summer? Let’s sew Envie!
When I received the printed pattern of the Envie model by Coralie Bijasson with its 20 variations, I immediately wanted (😂) to suggest making a trio with my two partners, Céline fell in love!
Envie is a t-shirt pattern that flatters us thanks to its pretty neckline and its knot or ring detail. A t-shirt much more original than the usual ones on the market. Marie-Hélène and Céline were both thrilled with the project.

Envie is available in PDF and printed patterns (at the time of writing) and is aimed at sewists from beginner level.

The Pelia set

The Pelia set is a two-in-one pattern that combines comfort, femininity, and style, consisting of a trapeze shorts or pants with Italian pockets and a cropped top with spaghetti straps. The waist is held by a wide ribbed waistband (minimum 40% elasticity), ensuring optimal comfort. The top is highlighted under the bust by a ribbed band, with a pretty V-neckline in front and an elasticated back.

It can be worn with a bra. Whether you’re in cocooning mode or looking for a relaxed summer look, Pelia is a stylish and feminine pattern to adapt to your desires. Pelia is available in PDF and printed patterns (at the time of writing) and is aimed at sewists from beginner level.

The Eudoxie blouse

Eudoxie was originally designed for more fluid fabrics but I thought it would look amazing in Japanese fabrics. It took me a while to find the fabric that would do justice to this model, and I started working on it with great pleasure.

Eudoxie is a feminine model, both refined and original, available as a dress or tunic. Thanks to its delicate lines and characteristic yoke on the front and back, it stands out with a subtle construction that naturally creates the sleeves — whether short or mid-length according to your wishes. The button placket, placed on the shoulder and along the arm, features a series of small buttons, adding a touch of originality to this model.

I really like the delicate gathers that highlight the chest and center back, adding volume with lightness. The shirttail hem gives the whole piece a relaxed-chic look, ideal for everyday wear as well as special occasions.

For the dress version, pockets are discreetly inserted into the side seams because pockets are really practical! Eudoxie is accessible to beginner sewists as well as more experienced ones looking for a quick and feminine project. To wear over shorts or jeans/pants or why not slipped over a swimsuit for a trip to the beach; Eudoxie will quickly become a wardrobe essential.

Eudoxie is available in PDF and printed patterns (at the time of writing) and is aimed at sewists from beginner level.

The Astrid pack

The pattern Astrid is a superb sewing pattern pack combining blouse, dress, and jumpsuit models, all available in several lengths, from short to long. You can choose a sleeveless version or one with sleeves. The proposed sleeve ends at the elbow and tightens with an elastic band. The top features a shoulder yoke and gathers to fit the volume of the chest and shoulders. The cut is straight but, for the jumpsuit and dress versions, the waist is highlighted by an elastic band. For the pants, the legs are straight and wide, with or without Italian pockets.

As Coralie Bijasson says in her presentation: “This model is perfect for all occasions: to wear in the city, at the beach, or for a dressy evening.” And as Georges says, “What else?”

Astrid is available in PDF and is aimed at intermediate-level sewists.

The Sanaz culotte skirt

Well then, Sanaz is our favorite because I think we all have several versions of these super comfortable pants/culotte skirts! You’ve got it, the whole team fell for the Sanaz culotte skirt, which reminds me of the Japanese Hakama pants; for Céline, it’s more about the culotte skirts from her childhood, and for Marie, the comfort of wide pants close to her heart!  There’s a very emotional side to this piece, which has become a key item in our wardrobes!

Sanaz is an elegant and feminine culotte skirt model, offered in two lengths: midi or long, created by Coralie Bijasson. With its waist marked by a shaped belt and a western-style front yoke, it combines modernity and originality. Its discreet Italian pockets add a practical and refined touch, while the invisible side zipper ensures a neat finish. The charm of Sanaz lies in its extra-wide legs, structured by flat pleats that offer spectacular volume while preserving fluidity. This generous cut enhances movement and creates a silhouette that is both bold and airy.

Sanaz is available in PDF and printed patterns (at the time of writing) and is aimed at intermediate-level sewists.
