The best Citron from Maison Fauve

Emilie, creator of Maison Fauve, literally offers us this lovely Cédrat camisole, with its small bows as straps, I am charmed.
This one is available for free download in PDF format from her eshop. You can print it in A4 size and easily assemble it (6 pieces). Moreover, the seam allowances are included, which makes this step easier. So Emilie truly gives us a gift!

Another advantage of the Cédrat top: it is reversible. You can therefore play with the colours to create a 2-in-1 top!
I chose a plain pale pink side. The two-tone side is rust with a floral print in the same shades, coming from a fabric remnant used to make a purple blouse. The plain fabrics both come from Nomura Tailor in Kyoto, and the floral one comes from Nunoya in Barcelona.

I also appreciate Emilie's care to make the pattern compatible with wearing a bra. Indeed, the back is low-cut, which gives a sexy touch and lightens the camisole, while not revealing the undergarments. It's great and well thought out!

This camisole sews up quickly and is therefore quickly worn... a good boost of self-confidence or a refreshing break between two big projects.
It consists of 6 pieces to cut on the fold if you want to make the top with the inserts. If you want to simplify it, you just need to cut the front and back twice as one piece; you will then get 2 sides of the same fabric. This is a good alternative for beginners who fear the step of assembling the "V" of the insert.

This camisole is accessible to resourceful beginners or with a little supervision for assembly.
The technical points are:

  • making the bust darts
  • the precision needed to assemble the front pieces in the two-tone version, especially for the "V"
  • assembling the 2 tops together with good clipping, turning the straps, and pressing the front and back necklines as well as the straps
  • making the final hems which must be the same size to avoid the lining showing.

The Cédrat top is offered from size 34 to 46 and will therefore suit bust measurements between 80 and 104cm and waist measurements between 60 and 84cm.

For a little background, this top was created by Emilie for a collaboration with Mode et Travaux in summer 2018.

And you, would you like to sew your own version? What colours would you choose?
