I wanted to share with you the great initiative from the brand Tape à l'oeil (TAO), the children's clothing brand.
Indeed, the brand offers us the Overalls pattern available in sizes from 2 years to 14 years. Besides this wonderful gift to sewers, the brand will donate 5 euros to the association A bras cadabra (which works for premature babies) for every overall posted on Instagram before March 31, 2021 with the hashtag #madebymewith❤️andtao!
So we have about a month left to make these lovely overalls,... get your needles ready!

The Overalls were created by the brand TAO in partnership with 4 children who gave their feedback on the overalls they wanted to wear. It is unisex, pretty, practical, and comfortable for going on adventures!
The pattern is available for free on the TAO website in PDF format, click here.
Seam allowances are included and are 1cm.
What sewing skill level is needed to sew it?
The Overalls are very accessible, with their 8 pieces and difficulty level of 2/5.
The 4 children participating in the project actually sewed their own version with 2 adults supervising the operations, all in just 5 hours. If you have children or grandchildren, this can be a great project to do on a Wednesday afternoon or a weekend.
Which fabrics to choose?
The pattern for the overalls was designed for "warp and weft" fabrics, woven fabrics.
For an autumn/winter version, we will go for corduroy (waled, smooth or even fine wale), denim.
For a spring/summer version, you would go for cotton, double gauze, linen, poplin, ...
For Martin's version, my godson, I chose the ladybug cotton fabric available in my shop.
You can make the version in a single fabric or choose a combination of different fabrics for the pocket, straps, lining... this is the kind of pattern where you can really let your creativity run free!
You will need between 95cm of fabric for the 2-year version and 1.60m for the 14-year version. For my godson's 3-year version, I took 80cm of ladybug fabric in 1.50m width because I’m making a summer "bermuda" version, so I’m shortening the legs.
For the rest of the materials, you will need to add:
- matching or not thread depending on the child's taste
- two large buttons or two strap fasteners
- your sewing machine
- possibly a serger to overlock the pieces
For my godson, I'm still hesitating between the flower strap fasteners and the buttons... I'll decide once the overalls are made ;-)
And then, all that's left is to... follow the instructions and TAO's video tutorial
I can't wait to see your "pretty" versions!
Alright, I'll leave you now, I have mine to finish ;-)
