The Nude dress/top by Vanessa Pouzet

I completely fell for the Nude pattern by Vanessa Pouzet as soon as it was released.

The top of Nude consists of a knit bustier for a super feminine and sexy effect, all without being vulgar. This is really the strength of Vanessa's patterns which always allow you to feel beautiful and sexy in your clothes without feeling too exposed.

In short, I love the models she offers us like the top wanted or the wonder mini skirt.

Nude is available in several versions:

  • as a top
  • as a dress with variable lengths from mini to maxi (with slit)

and to which you can add, if you wish, a short to long ruffle depending on your taste.

Finally, for those who want, it is also possible to add jersey straps but you can let yourself go with more creativity by choosing decorative ribbons, braids, bias tape...

In short, this pattern offers us a lot of possibilities for variations.

The pattern is available in Vanessa's eshop at the affordable price of 7.90 euros from size 32 to 48.

You can sew Nude for sizes between:

  • bust circumference: 80 to 108cm
  • waist circumference: 58 to 85cm
  • hip circumference: 79 to 107cm

all this for a height of 168cm.

The 1cm seam allowances are included in the pattern.

To sew Nude, you will need a knit fabric with good elasticity and especially good elastic recovery without deformation.

For the shopping bag, plan:

  • for the top version: 55 cm in 140cm width
  • for the mini version: 80cm in 140cm width (my version)
  • for the midi version: 100 cm in 140cm width
  • for the maxi version: 150 cm in 140cm width

If you want the version with ruffle, you will need to add 15cm for the short ruffle and 30cm for a long ruffle.

Nude is accessible to beginners and can be a great piece to start sewing with a serger.

Indeed, Nude consists of 4 pieces for the version without ruffle. With long seams to sew, it allows beginners to start using the serger.

The real challenge of Nude lies in the choice of jersey to use. You need to know knit fabrics well or ask for advice at the haberdashery to avoid unpleasant surprises.

For my version, I used a knit fabric "called sweatshirt" from the online store Lulu la Luciole, whose selection of colorful jerseys I love.

Nude sews very quickly. For those who are used to it, you can sew it in 1 hour. Enough to make yourself a little dress after work to go out in the evening for an aperitif ;-)
