Knitting technique – the skills and knowledge that change everything!
Do you knit and greatly enjoy this craft of thread? But on the other hand, some patterns stop you because you do not understand the techniques used? Are your finishes (the edges, the overall look, the stitches) a little disappointing? You hear about back loops, KFB, the "Italian bind-off," twisted stitches, provisional cast-ons, and all this seems quite mysterious to you?
The "technical knitting" workshop was designed for all these situations and many more, following strong demand from our participants and customers.
The prerequisites for this course are to have already completed a first simple knitting project.
During the 3 sessions of 2h30 each, we will explore in depth:
- the anatomy of the stitch and the ways to knit it
- different types of cast-ons: simple, French, crochet, provisional crochet, the "long tail cast-on"...
- different types of bind-offs: soft and firm, elastic bind-off, three-needle bind-off…
- different types of increases: lace, left-leaning and right-leaning, single and double decreases, lifted, barred
- different types of decreases: left-leaning and right-leaning, single and double decreases…
- icord techniques: alone, in cast-on, as edging, in bind-off, applied.• finishing the side selvedges
-
reading a chart (visual and technical representation of the stitches in the work)
We will create together a series of knitted swatches to help you build a catalogue of these techniques. The course includes:
- 3 x 2h30 of technical knitting guided by an experienced teacher
- two balls of dmc woolly 5
