Unisex child.

Straight unisex overall pattern. 3 lengths: pants, bermuda or shorts.
Shape with dropped crotch for a slightly baggy look.
2 strap versions: adjustable with buckles+buttons (Version 1), adjustable with multi-position buttons (Version 2). 
Side openings optional. 
Zipped fly opening optional. 
Front pockets, bib and back. 
Hammer pocket optional for the pants version. 
Lined bib. Loose fit allowing to put on the overalls without opening the sides.
A timeless piece for all seasons offering different sewing levels.

Sewing level: intermediate to advanced

Intermediate level: versions without side opening and without fly
Advanced level: versions with side opening and/or zipped fly

 

What you will learn with this pattern: how to sew pockets, make adjustable straps and, optionally, make side openings and install a zipper fly.

Material suggestions:

  • Gabardine/medium to heavy weight fabric (min 240g/m2 - up to 450g/m2), twill, denim, thick or corduroy milleraies, linen fabric, woven honeycomb, jacquard
  • Lining of bib & belt: poplin, chambray

Accessories:

- Strap option: cotton or polyester strap 25 to 40 mm wide depending on desired look 

- Straps version 1: 2 buckles and sliding buckles adapted to the width of the strap + 2 jean buttons - 15 to 17 mm diameter
- Straps version 2: 4 snaps or jean buttons - 15 to 17 mm

- Side opening option: 4 additional buttons or snaps - 15 to 17 mm diameter
- Fine nylon non-separable zipper option from 6 to 9 cm

(it is possible to shorten a zipper sold by the meter).

Version 2 : straps in main fabric only

Zipper closure/zip (real zip fly optional) : the use of the fly is optional for boys and rather from 5-6 years old
