Balto is a fleece sweatshirt with a partial zip closure and a comfortable, relaxed fit. It features a chest pocket with a vertical zipper, side pockets and a stand-up collar. Its panels invite colour-blocking. Designed in men's sizes, it can also be worn by women for a roomy look.
Sizes and skill level
Men's sizes XS to 3XL. Intermediate level: the zipped pockets require precision. 1 cm seam allowances are included, unless otherwise specified in the pattern.
Fabrics and supplies
Main fabric: fleece, sweatshirt fabric or thick knit fabric weighing more than 250 g/m². A light- to medium-weight woven fabric, such as gabardine, denim or ripstop, can be used for the outer collar and pockets.
You will need a non-separating zipper of 31 to 37 cm for the front, depending on size; a 14 cm zipper for the chest pocket; two 16 cm zippers for the side pockets; 20 mm pre-folded elastic binding; and lightweight fusible interfacing.
