PDF - digital pattern: Mia: butterflies: bow, wings, and hair accessories - Atelier Mimito (fr/eng)
The MIA bow is an easy tutorial that allows you to make pretty bows for all kinds of uses. The pattern offers three sizes and two different styles to create hair accessories as well as a bow tie for boys.
The tutorial also shows how to create a giant bow with scrunchie straps to wear on the back or as Christmas decoration on a staircase railing or on a front door. With a bit of imagination, anything is possible!
RECOMMENDED FABRICS
Linen, cotton canvas, seersucker, flannel, denim cotton, velvet, chambray, and any fabric that is relatively easy to handle.
For small bows, a thin fabric is suitable but it is recommended to use a thick and stiff fabric for the giant bow so that it keeps its shape.
This tutorial is a guide that can be used with any fabric. If you are unsure about the fabric used or need ideas, I invite you to take a look at the hashtag #miamimito on Instagram for inspiration.
FABRIC NEEDED
This pattern is perfect for using fabric scraps.
For the giant bow, you need 1.5m x 1.5m of fabric.
For making the giant bow, you will need to add fusible interfacing on the back if the fabric is too thin so that the bow keeps its shape.
SUPPLIES
- Fabric
- Threads
- Rubber elastic
- Glue gun (optional)
- Fusible interfacing (for thin fabrics and for the giant bow)
- Elastic 1 to 2cm wide (for the straps of the giant bow if worn on the back)
PDF PATTERN
This pattern is available in PROJECTOR and PRINT AT HOME formats.
The PROJECTOR pattern can be opened with Adobe Acrobat. Make sure your projector is calibrated and carefully measure the measurement square to ensure the pattern is at the correct scale. If you use a dark-colored fabric, change the color of the projector file so that the pattern and text are easier to see.
The Print At Home pattern can be printed at 100% scale from any A4 or US Letter printer and contains only 3 pages.
There is no pattern for the giant bow. Simply transfer the measurements indicated on page 4 directly onto the fabric.
SEAM ALLOWANCES
All seam allowances are included in the pattern.
Follow the instructions in this tutorial carefully.
