The Calao Sweatshirt is the quintessential feminine sweatshirt. By exploring the different options and varying the fabrics, you have the freedom to create a very sporty version or a more cozy sweater.
The key feature of this model is its pretty delicately pleated sleeves. These can simply end with a hem, ribbing, or an elasticated casing.
For the bottom of the sweatshirt, the options are similar: long with a hem, a ribbed waistband, or cropped with an elasticated waistband.
As for the neckline, it’s up to you to choose between a simple neckline, a neckline band, or a hood.
For the ribbed version, you can also sew a kangaroo pocket.
This versatility allows you to customize your Calao Sweatshirt according to your preferences and make it truly unique. The cut is feminine, but for a looser fit, sew the size above.
By sewing Calao, you will learn to:
Measure an elasticity rate
Sew ribbing
Sew a hood
Sew flat pleats
For this sweatshirt, mainly consider your bust measurement. If your hip measurement is more than 2 sizes above your bust measurement, it is better to grade between the two sizes from bust to hips.
If you are between two sizes, take the larger size.

The Calao Sweatshirt should be sewn in a medium to heavy weight stretch fabric. Ideally, it should have about 20% elasticity (see next page). Choose fleece, loopback sweat, French Terry, or a soft and thick knit.
The hood can be lined or not, some soft fabrics don’t deserve to be hidden under a lining!
