Marguerite is named after this pretty spring/summer flower in reference to the first fabric I sewed it in 2 years ago, two hours before leaving for a festival.

Since then, it has become a basic of my spring/summer wardrobe. It looks like a skirt but has the comfort of pants! It is ideal for hot weather, summer picnics, or even as pajamas.

So, when Atelier Bernie's 5th anniversary approached, I wanted to develop this pattern that I originally intended to keep for myself. Its ultimate simplicity didn’t motivate me to work on it, but I had to admit that I received many compliments on it and my friends kept telling me they wanted to sew it. This pattern, which will quickly become a staple, marks five wonderful years of creation that I wanted to keep a record of.

So this is a pair of pants or shorts, loose and flared. It is gathered at the waist by an elastic decorated with a small ruffle. Equipped with two pockets sewn into the side seams, it is entirely sewn with flat-felled seams. No need for a serger! Of course, if you want to sew it faster, you can assemble it traditionally and serge your seam allowances (like I did on my first versions).
