Looking for comfortable bottoms, easy to sew and wear all year round? This sewing pattern allows you to make pants or shorts with an elastic waistband, in a woven fabric, perfect for a casual yet neat look.

Two versions to choose from:

• A simple version without seams, with the option to add side seam pockets, ideal for beginners.
• A version with front seams and integrated pockets for a small stylish detail.

Two possible finishes:

• Straight shorts, offered in two lengths.
• Tapered pants, slightly narrowed at the ankle for a modern silhouette.

The little extra? Choose between a simple leg hem or one with a small slit.

The elastic waistband ensures great daily comfort, and an optional drawstring allows you to adjust the waist as you wish.

A basic to sew and resew in all materials, for all styles and all seasons!

Beginner to advanced beginner depending on the options chosen. The technical stitches are attaching the waistband with the invisible seam option. Sylvain is the simple and rewarding project par excellence

Size guide

This pattern is designed for a height of 1.65 m. It is available from size 34 to 52.

The most important measurements for this model are height, waist circumference, and hip circumference. If you hesitate between 2 sizes, choose the larger size for a woven fabric version, the smaller size for a stretch fabric version.

- Full-size pattern sheets in 2 formats (Plotter format A0 and booklet A4). Files with layers: you can choose only the size(s) to print, with or without seam allowances. No cutting for A4 format: sheets join edge to edge (you can select the control grid). Pieces without overlap.

Once the order is confirmed, you will receive 2 emails: an order confirmation and an email containing a download link. PDF patterns are to be printed by you.

Required materials

Fabric

Choose a soft woven fabric, lightweight to medium weight (80 to 150g/m2): light cotton (poplin…), viscose, tencel, crepe, light denim, chambray, linen, light velvet, light woollen fabric…

Note: You can also choose a stretch fabric such as jersey, interlock, fleece, French Terry,... In this case, you may need to size down the model (see the size paragraph) and replace all flat-felled seams with overlocked seams.

Warning! The values are given as a guide and may vary depending on the options you have chosen and your ability to arrange the pieces when cutting the fabric. Allow extra fabric if your fabric has a direction and/or you have matching to do.

Small haberdashery

·      Matching thread, needles suitable for your fabric.

·      Flat elastic, 4 cm wide – length = your waist circumference + 3 cm

·      Ribbon 1.5 to 2 cm wide or a cord if you do not sew the drawstring.

·       Interfacing suitable for your fabric for the waistband if your fabric is very light.

·       Fusible stay tape for pocket openings if fabric is light.

·      Possibly anti-fray glue for buttonholes (cord version).
