Ouvéa is a pattern for a one- or two-piece swimsuit for girls, available from ages 2 to 16.

A wide frill adorns the top of the swimsuit, and the thin straps can be crossed or not at the back.

The bottom is shaped as shorts or briefs. The knots on the briefs are optional. Similarly, two cut styles are possible for the bottom of the one-piece swimsuit: classic cut or shorts style.

The thigh bands of both versions and the hem of the waist on the two-piece version can be edged with or without binding.

This swimsuit pattern for girls is not difficult to make; it can be sewn with a sewing machine or an overlocker, and sews up quickly.

Two-piece version:
– Lycra – main fabric (yardage for all pieces): 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 cm wide (140 cm)
– Laminette (rubber elastic) between 8 and 9 mm wide: 1.55 / 1.65 / 1.75 / 1.90 / 2.05 / 2.20 / 2.35 / 2.50 m

All versions:
– Lining for swimsuit (for the crotch): 20 x 20 cm (can be replaced by fine light jersey)
– For the straps: – ready-made swimsuit cord: 40 / 46 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 74 / 80 / 90 cm
                           OR  – 5 cm of lycra (widthwise) + 40 / 46 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 74 / 80 / 90 cm of laminette

The indicated yardage of the main fabric is sufficient if you wish to cut the bindings, straps, briefs’ knots, or the frill from the same fabric.

If you wish to cut some pieces in contrasting fabric:
