Buffalo is a pattern for jeans, shorts, or cargo trousers for boys, available from 2 to 16 years old.

Two versions are offered. The first, with a faux fly and elasticated waistband, is especially suited for young children and is easy to make. The second, with a zipped fly and buttoned waistband, suits teenagers better and requires more care. The latter features back darts, and for a better fit, it is possible to insert a buttonhole elastic in the waistband.

Various pocket options are possible: front pockets with a gusset pocket option, patch pockets at the back with tab and tool pocket options, and side pockets (cargo pockets). Cargo pockets cannot be sewn onto the shorts, and if you sew a tool pocket on the right leg, you will not be able to sew a cargo pocket there.

You can add belt loops and rivets on the upper corners of the pockets. Topstitching with contrasting thread will refine the model’s appearance.

This pattern for jeans, shorts, or cargo trousers is not difficult to sew but requires some time, especially for the version with zipped fly and if you choose all the pocket options.
