Mr Smith is a “laid-back” tailored vest, a chic casual style. Its loose fit gives it a “relaxed” look… but all the little elegant details are still present: asymmetry front/back, softly pointed front cuts, welt pockets with flaps (optional). It can be worn open or closed, depending on the desired look. It can be worn over a shirt, a fine light sweater, or a turtleneck.
❥ Its cut offers comfortable ease, complemented by princess seams on the front that provide moderate but noticeable volume at the bust. At the back, two darts slightly shape the silhouette. Mr Smith is fully lined. The shoulder line is lowered at the front. The shawl collar of Mr Smith is optional: again, it’s all a matter of style and taste!
❥ The tailored vest Mr Smith can be sewn all year round in a wide range of fabrics: even in summer, over a simple t-shirt, it does the job.
❥ Making Mr Smith does not present any real difficulty: the only technical point is sewing the welt pockets with flaps, which is explained step by step with diagrams and a very clear method. But if you are not ready yet, a simple flap assembly for a “false pocket” effect is offered. This option can also be wise if you sew your vest in a fabric with a complex weave, like tweed for example, where it is sometimes difficult to mark precisely.
