PDF - digital pattern for blouse and shirt dress Lycène by Laeti and Léa from size 34 to 50
Lycène is an oversized shirt with a straight cut and low armholes that give it a relaxed look. The gathered or box pleat details at the back neckline and sleeves add a feminine touch. The button closure under a placket at the front centre adds a hint of elegance to this shirt with neat finishes.
To give your shirt a style that suits you, you can choose from the following finishes:
- Shirt or dress length.
- A collar stand with classic (French) collar or club collar.
- 6 sleeve lengths and finishes.
- A wavy hemline offered in 2 lengths for the back.
- Finishes with box pleats or gathers for the back and sleeves.
- Patch pockets on the chest.
Play with the different options to adapt it to your desires, the seasons, or your sewing level.
The techniques you will use and learn to do with this pattern:
- English seam (for neat finishes when closing the shoulders and sleeves).
- Setting gathers.
- Forming box pleats.
- Attaching a collar on a stand.
- Creating an untearable slit and attaching a shirt cuff
- The finishing of the collar and shirt cuffs can be done by machine or by hand.
Sewing level
Intermediate to advanced depending on the options chosen (3/5 to 4/5).
The technical points are the understanding and precision needed to form box pleats, assemble the collar on a stand, and create a sleeve cuff with an untearable slit, especially if you choose a fluid/slippery fabric.
I support you with explanations and detailed assembly diagrams, as well as an assembly help video.
Size guide
This pattern is designed for a height of 1.65 m.
The most important measurements for this model are height and bust circumference.
It is a loose model, so if you are between two sizes, take the smaller size
If you are taller or shorter than the stated height, and the finished garment measurements do not suit you, you can make adjustments: you can shorten or lengthen the sleeve and/or the bodice as explained in the guide.

Required materials
Fabric
For a fabric width of 140 cm, choose a lightweight to medium weight woven fabric (80 to 170g/m2): a cotton not too thick (poplin, Liberty), viscose, tencel, linen, silk, double gauze, embroidered cotton, chambray, crepe…
Warning! Choosing a very fluid and/or slippery fabric (some viscose) or one that deforms easily (e.g. double gauze) can make sewing more delicate. If you are a beginner, I advise you to start with a cotton
Warning! The values are given as a guide and may vary depending on the options you have chosen and your ability to arrange the pieces when cutting the fabric.
You will also need more fabric if you must respect pattern matching and direction (allow 30% more fabric in these cases)
Small haberdashery
-
Matching thread and needles suitable for your fabric.
-
Interfacing suitable for your fabric* for the collar and sleeve cuffs if your fabric is very light.
-
Buttons with a maximum diameter of 12 mm: prefer flat and simple buttons for the hidden button placket. You can choose a pretty decorative button for the collar stand.
-
Bias binding to match for the long sleeve version: 30 cm x 2.4 cm (ideally on the bias)
* Note : Type and thickness to choose according to your fabric. A fabric interfaced with woven interfacing will keep its “natural” feel and drape but with more body. A fabric interfaced with non-woven interfacing will have a stiffer appearance.
