Révérence is an asymmetrical dress pattern for girls, available from 2 to 16 years old.

The bodice is made with a stretch fabric and has a fitted cut. The neckline is rounded or square. You can sew it sleeveless like a tank top, with short flutter sleeves, or with long sleeves that can be tightened with a wristband.

The belt is optional and is cut from a stretch fabric (the same as the bodice or not). The dress therefore does not require any opening system; it is put on like a t-shirt.

The skirt part is made from woven fabric. It is asymmetrical and offered in 2 lengths. Depending on the chosen fabric, the finish will be more or less flowing and voluminous. If you use tulle, you can sew a wide hem band at the bottom of the skirt.

The sewing difficulty mainly depends on the fabric used for the skirt; it will be easier to sew with a fabric that does not stretch like tulle, than with a fabric that has less body like muslin.

With this asymmetrical dress pattern, you have the possibility to sew 24 different versions.

Supplies:

The bodice is sewn from a knitted fabric containing elastane and with at least 60% stretch: jersey, velvet jersey, sparkling jersey…
The finishing bindings are made of jersey. You can choose the same fabric as for the bodice if it is not too thick.
The belt and wristbands can be cut from the same fabric as the bodice or from a contrasting fabric.

The skirt is made from woven fabric. For a flowing and airy finish: choose muslin, Georgette crepe, satin crepe, viscose, viscose crepe… For a stiffer and more voluminous finish: choose tulle, more or less stiff.
If your fabric is transparent, line your skirt with a suitable woven lining.
If your fabric is very transparent (muslin, Georgette crepe), you can cut the skirt in two layers of fabric and add a layer of lining.
The sleeves are made from the same fabric as the skirt (unless you have chosen tulle): muslin, Georgette crepe, satin crepe, viscose, viscose crepe…

If your stretch fabric lacks recovery power, gathers may cause the seam joining the skirt and bodice to ripple. In this case, plan to use stay tape to stabilize the seam: 46 / 49 / 52 / 55 / 58 / 61 / 64 / 67 cm
