I am Ruby, a slightly flared denim skirt that comes in three styles and five versions. My basic version is a long denim skirt with precise details: fly, slant pockets, set waistband, back slit, and contrast topstitching. I can also be sewn as a short skirt.

My second style combines a long transparent skirt and an opaque inner skirt. I can be worn in different ways depending on the desired look.

The third style is a slightly flared skirt, simple, with a waistband set lower and an invisible zipper at the back. Like my long denim version, I have a back slit and can also be shortened into a short skirt.

FABRICS

The I AM Ruby skirt has no ease at the hips, so prefer a fabric with a bit of stretch. However, be careful, knit fabrics are not suitable for this pattern.

  • Versions A & B:
    – main fabric: medium woven fabrics: denim, gabardine, cotton twill, faux leather, suedine, Tencel twill, smooth or corduroy velvet…
    – pocket lining: poplin, batiste, fine cotton cloth…

  • Version C:
    – – outer skirt: openwork or transparent fabric with good body: embroidered cotton or silk organza, broderie anglaise, etc…
    – inner skirt: woven fabric with body, cotton or silk satin, etc… Do not choose a special lining fabric. The inner skirt is not a lining but an integral part of the skirt, which is why we call it “inner skirt” and not “lining”

  • Versions D & E: gabardine, cotton twill, Prince of Wales, tartan, tweed, fine wool cloth, Tencel twill, smooth or corduroy velvet, jacquard…
