PDF - Digital Pattern for the Françoise Blouse from Atelier Bernie
The Françoise blouse pays tribute to Françoise d’Aubigné, the woman nicknamed
Madame de Maintenon, and her incredible life journey. Born in a prison, married to Paul Scarron, she managed to make a place for herself at the court of Versailles until she married Louis XIV.
Having become "the king’s shadow," the favourite experienced a remarkable rise and influence.
Returning to the pattern, it is a model of a fairly classic blouse : round neck, bust darts, straight cut. It stands out through multiple optional details : the addition of flounces on the collar, the bottom of the blouse, or even the shoulders.
Its particularity lies in the cut-outs it offers on the front and sleeves. Cut-outs that will delight lovers of piping or embroidered braid trims which you can add in each seam. This play of pieces will also allow you to have fun with patterns or even make patchwork, making this pattern ideal for using your fabric scraps !
The back of the blouse is simple and closes with a slit at the neck. Its sleeves are puffed, short or long, and end with a simple cuff. You can also sew it sleeveless, with small flounces on the shoulders!
You will need a overlocker or a zigzag stitch on your sewing machine.
