I am Barbara, a classic shirt: sleeves and a shirt collar, cuffs with tear-proof slit, a back yoke seam, and a center back pleat. I have a hidden button placket and a loose fit. I also come as a dress.
It’s my details that make me an original creation: ruffles at the front and/or back are inserted into the sleeves. I have 3 different ruffle shapes for unique styles.
The I AM Barbara pattern is the meeting of I AM Patterns and Barbara, better known under the pseudonym @bee_made. Even before Instagram existed, Marie-Emilienne, our designer, followed Barbara’s adventures on her blog. The pattern pieces do not overlap. Once printed and assembled, you simply cut the pattern to your size and you can start sewing.

The file includes the pattern in A4, US letter, A3, and A0 formats as well as two files to project. A step-by-step explanatory booklet with diagrams is also provided.

Pattern formats to download and print:

A4 / US letter – to print and assemble at home – 46 pages (divided into 2 files)

A3 – to print at work (promise, we won’t tell) – 19 pages

A0 – large format file to be printed by a professional – 3 pages

Projection – one file on white background and one file on fuchsia background with a layer per size

VERSIONS

2 lengths: shirt or dress

3 flounces: flat flounces, long godet flounces, short godet flounces

You can choose to sew only the front flounces, only the back flounces, or both front and back flounces. And if you choose a version without flounces, you will get a beautiful classic shirt.

Given the large number of versions this pattern allows you to make, it is impossible to list all the yardages for all versions in all sizes. Below, we have broken down the yardage for each part of the garment and you can optimize the yardage by following the advice given in the "Cutting the fabric" section of the instruction booklet.
