Jeanne dress Pattern from Atelier Bernie
The Jeanne dress is named after the first French woman lawyer to plead, Jeanne Chauvin. It also pays tribute to the Countess Du Barry, the last love of King Louis XV, known for her beauty, her white dresses, and her taste for the arts.
This is a model suitable for mid-season as well as high summer, with a cottage core and romantic spirit. It is distinguished by its wide round neckline which highlights the décolletage. It fits close to the body up to the waist marked by a fitted belt and flares out with a very gathered skirt that can be short or long. It can be sewn with a belt to tie at the back.
Its puffed sleeves and the hem of the skirt are adorned with large knife pleats which are optional but give the model its originality. It can also be sewn sleeveless.
For the finishing touches, it closes with an invisible zipper at the back and its bodice is fully lined. You will also learn how to make set-in armholes so that no seams are visible. The other seams are flat-felled seams except for the center back seam. You can finish this last seam with the zigzag stitch on your sewing machine or with an overlocker.
