The Beira Hood is the accessory to sew for the whole family and is now available for kids! It is a removable hood to wear under a coat or jacket that lacks one. Beira can also be worn as a replacement for a scarf or snood with its stand-up collar.
The Beira Hood is an accessory open on the sides and the front yoke is zipped, which allows easy putting on without messing up your hair. It is also very easy to remove Beira with one hand, without taking off your coat.
The Beira stand-up collar keeps you warm, even when the hood is not raised on your head.
The Beira hood is wide and covering, so it can be worn even with a voluminous hairstyle.
This also allows a nice placement on the shoulders when the hood is not on the head to reveal a beautiful lining.
If you wish, you can add a cord to tighten the hood.
The +: Beira includes a storage pouch hidden in the back yoke, accessible by an invisible zipper. Like a windbreaker, the hood is inserted into the pocket which closes with two snaps on the flap.
💡 By sewing Beira, you will learn to:
🧷 Quilt a fabric
🧷 Sew a collar
🧷 Sew a hood
🧷 Sew a drawstring with cord stopper
🧷 Sew an invisible zipped pocket
🧷 Sew a separating zipper
🧷 Sew a zip facing
💡 Seam allowances are included in the pattern and are 1 cm unless otherwise indicated.
The Beira Hood is a unisex model. To choose the size to sew, refer to the child's stature. 5 sizes are offered in the pattern, with 5 size ranges. In the table below, the finished garment length is indicated, from the neck to the bottom of the back. Use this value to confirm the size to sew; it is preferable that the Beira Hood does not extend beyond under the child's coat.

To sew Beira, you will need an outer fabric, ideally water-repellent, and a comfortable lining fabric to wear. For the outer fabric, it is possible to buy quilted down jacket fabric or waterproof fabric that you will quilt yourself with wadding.
For the lining, it is possible to use a simple cotton fabric or fleece, minky, or any other soft fabric.
The pocket and its flap can be sewn in outer fabric or lining.

The Beira Hood is suitable for beginners who have already sewn thick fabrics or who are eager to learn! It is preferable to have already sewn a few pieces, but the various diagrams found in the booklet as well as the video tutorial available on the YouTube channel and accessible via the QR code during the sewing courses will guide you in making your hood!
