The Mackaon Junior sweatshirt is a sweatshirt pattern with a unisex fit.
It is a unisex design that you can give a more masculine or feminine look depending on the options and fabrics you choose:
- simple collar or hood
- with or without a pocket
- straight or puff sleeve (with cuff)
- with or without a front yoke
- with or without a front ruffle
- with or without a shoulder ruffle
In total, 48 versions are possible depending on the combination of options you choose.
This pattern is designed to be assembled with an overlocker. The decorative topstitching (pocket and hood) is done with a sewing machine. However, it is entirely possible to sew it completely with a sewing machine.

Materials required
Fabric
- A stretch fabric: French terry, sweatshirt jersey, sweatshirt fleece, minky, knit velvet, fleece.
The chosen fabric must have at least 20% stretch, meaning that a 10 cm strip must be able to stretch to 12 cm when pulled perpendicular to the grainline.
- The following pieces can be cut from ribbing or the main fabric: collar, cuffs, waistband.
- The following pieces can be cut from a woven fabric or the main fabric: upper front yoke, front ruffle, cap sleeve.
Haberdashery
- Some matching thread, some jersey needles, a twin needle.
- For the neck finishing strip: 25 cm of bias tape 2.5 cm wide (or cut bias tape lengthwise, as the standard width of bias tape is 4 cm).
- For the hood version and if you would like to add a hood drawcord: 2 squares of 3 cm of fusible interfacing, 2 eyelets or 2 buttonholes, 60 cm to 1.20 m (depending on the size) of cord.
