Pattern printed of the pack 3 models of Dunes by Dress Your Body (XS to XL) - fr
The Dunes pack contains the original Dune dress to which 2 new patterns are added, available in many versions. Entirely in the spirit of Dune, the two new patterns are equipped with short sleeves with slightly less fullness at the bust. This makes them easier to wear with a jacket and to adapt into short dress versions and top versions.
- Pattern 1 is the original version of the Dune dress, characterized by its fullness and whose uniqueness lies in the fact that it does not have proper sleeves. Only the long dress version is available.
- Pattern 2 remains a loose pattern but it is more fitted at the bust. It is a shirt dress with a button placket at the front. It has short sleeves. This pattern can be made in long dress, short dress or top versions.
- Pattern 3 is the most fitted pattern since it is possible to cinch the dress just below the bust thanks to two casings at front and back. This version is also the easiest to sew as there is no button placket at the front, nor collar. The neckline is finished with a bias binding. This pattern can be made in long dress, short dress or top versions.
If the original Dune dress, pattern 1, had no sleeves, short sleeves have been added on patterns 2 and 3. This reduces the fullness at the bust and allows them to be worn more easily in all seasons and situations with a jacket or coat.
3 COLLARS for 3 DIFFERENT STYLES … YOUR CHOICE
You can make Dunes patterns 1 and 2 with 3 different types of collars (pattern 3 has no collar)
The stand-up collar (or funnel), worn closed, will further highlight the very fashionable and sharp style of your Dunes. You can see it on the photos of the fuchsia version in cotton satin by Céline @tenyearsappart. Worn unbuttoned, it looks like a turned-up shirt collar. This is the option I chose on my striped cotton Dune dress.
Alternatively, you can opt for the classic shirt collar to emphasize the shirt dress effect of the Dune dress or the mandarin collar for a very simple Dune dress!
SO HOW MANY PATTERNS IN TOTAL?
By combining the 3 different patterns, the different collars and the different lengths … the number of possible variations of the Dune dress is countless!!!
WHICH SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE?
As you have understood, the Dunes patterns are oversized. They have a lot of fullness and are meant to be worn that way. However, you can decide to wear them a “bit” more fitted – and I do mean a bit 😉 – by choosing the size below yours. No problem, it will surely fit you! However, since the neckline and sleeves are fitted and designed to match the pattern size, transfer the neckline of your true size onto the chosen pattern size.
To help you with this choice, here are the 2 main finished measurements of the dress:
Bust circumference: TXS-S: 226cm / TM: 238cm / TL-XL: 250cm
Neck circumference: XS-S: 39cm / M:42.5cm / L-XL: 45.5cm
The fullness of the Dune dress requires the use of lightweight fabrics but not necessarily fluid though.
The dress works very well with viscose, crepe, silk, cotton poplin, linen, washed linen for example.
