Opal is the mid-season jacket you slip on without thinking... yet it always makes a little impression
With its structured straight cut, it wonderfully replaces the biker jacket or trench coat for cool summer evenings or spring mornings.
Two versions are offered:
• with cuffed sleeves and a buttoned tab
• or sleeveless, with a cap sleeve that adds character to the silhouette.
You can wear it open, buttoned (6 buttons), or belted, thanks to a system of eyelets at the waist to thread a cord through.
Between its flap pockets, double topstitching, and well-thought-out seams, Opal ticks all the boxes of a pattern as pleasant to sew as to wear.
By sewing Opal, you will learn to:
Make flat-felled seams
Sew a button placket
Sew a sleeve cuff
Sew patch pockets with flaps
Opal is a jacket with a bit of ease.
Use your chest measurement to choose your size.
Take the closest size. If your hip measurement is more than two sizes larger than your chest measurement, it is better to grade between the two sizes from chest to hips.

150 to 200 cm of cord (your chest measurement + 75 cm)
The choice of fabric for the Opal jacket will influence both its style and its drape. Structured materials will highlight the seams and the straight cut of the model, while softer fabrics will offer a more relaxed look.
For a summer or mid-season version, favor cotton canvases, light denim, washed linen, or fine gabardines, perfect for a lightweight jacket with good shape.
For a bolder or sporty look, Opal can also be sewn in technical fabrics such as water-repellent canvas, waterproof gabardine, or even a thin wadding like a light padded jacket.
The key is to use a medium-weight fabric, not too thick, to fully enjoy the neat finishes of the model.

Opal is an intermediate-level model; the finishes are neat and require care, but nothing out of reach. The various diagrams in the booklet as well as the video tutorial available on the YouTube channel
