PDF sewing pattern – Swimsuit and bodysuit Machaon – Instinct Couture – sizes 32 to 52 – FR

One pattern for sewing either a fully lined one-piece swimsuit or a bodysuit. Machaon, created by Instinct Couture in collaboration with Aurélie (@orelypaillette), lets you vary the front, back, straps and brief shape.

• Closed front, with narrow or wide tie straps, or with shank buttons.
• Back compatible with a bra or an open-back version.
• Straight or crossed tie straps; adjustable straps on the bodysuit version.
• Bottom in a classic brief or thong style.

Downloadable PDF pattern, with no physical item or shipping. Sewing guide in French, FR/EN printing instructions, storage cover page, A0 sheet, edge-to-edge A4, framed A4 and two projector files (black and white and pink). The pattern sheets include size layers. Seam allowances are included: 1 cm, unless otherwise indicated.

Sizes: 32 to 52. Reference height: 168 cm. Level: intermediate, 3/5.

Fabrics and supplies

Four-way stretch Lycra with at least 40% stretch for the swimsuit; four-way stretch jersey for the bodysuit. The lining must also be stretchy.

• Separate fabric and lining: 90 cm of fabric and 80 cm of lining, 140 cm wide.
• Same fabric for outer and lining: 130 cm for sizes 32 to 42; 140 cm for sizes 44 to 52, 140 cm wide.
• 350 to 470 cm of 6 mm swimwear elastic or clear elastic, depending on the version.
• Buttoned version: 3 shank buttons, 10 mm.
• Adjustable straps: 2 sliders, 12 mm.

Choosing your size

Take both bust and hip measurements into account. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one; fabric with more than 60% stretch may allow you to size down. Adjust the torso length to your height and make a toile if necessary.
