Pattern drafting – Module 3: I learn to make my trousers to measure
Have you always dreamed of being able to make trousers that suit your body shape?
Do you already have a solid grounding in pattern drafting (drafting basic blocks), or have you already completed our pattern drafting modules 1 and 2?
Would you like your trousers to fit "like a glove", and are you disappointed with commercially available patterns or the clothes in ready-to-wear shops?
Does it feel as though nothing fits... then learn to make your clothes to measure! This pattern drafting course is for you!
Together, we will learn the specific principles of trouser pattern drafting, with a substantial theoretical section to understand the shape and volume around the pelvis (crotch curve, etc.).
The prerequisites for this course are:
- a solid level of pattern drafting
- having already drafted basic blocks (in our modules 1 and 2, or through equivalent experience)
- having sewn around twenty different patterns
Please note: the basic principles covered in modules 1 and 2 will not be taught in this module.
During these 5 classes of 3 hours each, you will learn:
- how to draft a basic trouser block to your measurements
- how to make toiles and adjust them to your body shape
You will leave with your basic trousers, which will become your template for all the design changes inspired by your ideas.
This module does not include sessions on altering the basic trouser block, as these principles are covered in modules 1 and 2 (pleats, darts, panel seams, etc.).
The course includes:
- 5 x 3 hours of pattern drafting with an experienced teacher
- printed materials for the exercises
- sewing on quality Janome Sewist 780 electronic sewing machines and Juki overlockers
- use of the basic equipment: scissors, pins, thread, ruler, pattern paper…
- smiles, kindness and respect for everyone
- a complimentary drink
A supplies kit is included in the course: 2 m of calico and squared paper
