Cross-stitch kit "The Skiff" by Renoir. Auguste Renoir, impressionist painter, created this work in 1870. (The skiff is a small light boat).
The scene takes place on the Seine near Paris, in the foreground, the clump of reeds brushed with broad strokes, and in the background, a curtain of trees almost indistinct, in the middle of the canvas, young girls on their skiff, all in white.
Renoir evokes the warmth and brightness of the sun through his combination of the two complementary colours, blue and orange.
