Sewing – I repair my clothes: level 1 visible mending

Would you like to repair your clothes? Give them a second life so you can wear them again?
Do you not always know how to go about it? 
We offer to teach you how to repair and elevate your clothes using beautiful techniques and finishes that will make you proud to wear your mended garment and to have given it extra soul. 

The prerequisite for this course is knowing how to use a sewing machine and not being afraid of hand sewing.

During this 2.5-hour course session, you will learn:

• the different types of visible mending in sewing (no embroidery)
• the methods used for machine and/or hand sewing
  
• customising visible repairs
• key points to ensure the repair is durable 
• finishing touches

Together, we will either practice on calico fabric so you can learn different methods, or you can bring a woven garment (no jersey/knits)

 The course includes:

• 2.5 hours of sewing guided by a teacher experienced in upcycling and repair
• sewing on high-quality Janome Sewist 780 electronic sewing machines
• use of basic equipment: scissors, pins, thread…
• materials needed for testing (a patch, a label, reinforcement) 
• smiles, kindness, and respect for everyone
