I Repair My Clothes: Level 1 Visible Mending
Would you like to repair your clothes and give them a second life so you can wear them again?
Are you not always sure how to go about it?
We offer you the opportunity to learn how to repair and enhance your clothes using beautiful methods and finishes that will make you proud to wear your repaired garment and to have given it an extra touch of soul.
The prerequisite for this course is knowing how to use a sewing machine and not being afraid to sew by hand.
During this 2.5-hour course session, you will learn about:
- the different types of visible mending in sewing (no embroidery)
- the methods used for sewing by machine and/or by hand
- customizing visible repairs
- key points to ensure that the repair is sturdy
- finishing techniques
Together, we will either make tests on calico so that you can learn different methods, or you can bring a woven garment (no jersey/knitwear)
The courses includes:
- 2.5 hours of sewing accompanied by a teacher experienced in upcycling and mending
- sewing on high-quality Janome Sewist 780 electronic machines
- basic equipment provided: scissors, pins, thread…
- the materials needed for the test (a patch, a label, a reinforcement piece)
- smiles, kindness and respect for everyone
