Patternmaking – I draft and sew my circle skirt

Fancy learning pattern making techniques and sewing a first twirly skirt for yourself, your daughter, your granddaughter...?

I will teach you how to draft the pattern, sew it, apply beautiful finishes, and recreate it endlessly. 

During these 3 sessions of 2.5-hour courses, you will learn:

• To draft a circle skirt pattern (half-circle, quarter-circle...) and its waistband or facing (calculations, technical drawing, seam allowances)
• To choose its length (mini, midi, maxi)
• To add lace or create contrasting colour bands... at the bottom of the skirt
• To calculate fabric requirements 
• To cut the fabric correctly
• To interface
• To insert an invisible zip neatly
• To assemble a lined waistband
• Tips and tricks for beautiful finishes on curves, especially for hems 

You will head home with your finished skirt!

Course level: intermediate level and above (at the absolute minimum, having taken the "Discover sewing and first garment" course). It is necessary to have already sewn at least one garment (knowing how to trace a pattern, understanding piece directions, managing seam allowances, cutting fabric,...)
It is necessary to be independent in using a sewing machine (knowing how to thread it, change stitch length...)

The course includes:

• 3 x 2.5 hours of sewing guided by an experienced teacher
• the pattern paper needed to construct the design and the test Toile
• sewing on high-quality Janome Sewist 780 electronic machines and Juki Kirei overlockers
• the provision of basic equipment: scissors, pins, thread, Japanese ruler, needles...
• smiles, kindness, and respect for everyone

If you are sewing for someone else, you will need to know their waist measurement before the first course.
