Sewing – Discovering fabrics

Have you taken up sewing and find yourself wandering like a lost soul in fabric shops when it comes to making a choice?

You hear terms like jersey, french terry, knit fabric, selvage, poplin, Crepe, jacquard... but you don't really know what lies behind them? 
Then the "Discovering fabrics" courses is made for you! 

Together, we will learn to distinguish the main fabric families. We will talk about weaving, fibers... so you can recognize and understand fabrics. 

No prerequisites for this courses, we start with the basics 😊. Complete beginners are welcome, as well as intermediate and advanced sewists who will still find plenty to learn during this courses! 

The courses includes: 

• 2 hours of fabric theory with an experienced teacher
• a practical presentation of fabrics so you can touch and discover the different materials
• smiles, kindness, and respect for everyone

We recommend bringing note-taking supplies (paper and pen) if you'd like to review the material once you get back home. 

Our courses take place in our workshop located at: 
Either in Ixelles: Avenue de la Couronne, 357 1050 Ixelles
Or in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert: Avenue Georges Henri, 328 1200 Woluwe-Saint-Lambert

• Bus 71 (Cimetière d'Ixelles stop) - 5-minute walk
• Tram 7 or 25 (Gare d'Etterbeek stop) - 5-minute walk
• Train (Etterbeek station) - 5-minute walk
• Tram 8 (ULB stop) - 15-minute walk or connection with Bus 71 to Cimetière d'Ixelles
• Metro 5 (Delta stop) - 15-minute walk or connection with Bus 71 to Cimetière d'Ixelles

Getting to the Woluwe workshop by public transport:

• Tram 7 or 25 (Georges Henri stop) - 4-min walk
• Metro 1 (Joséphine-Charlotte stop) - 9-min walk
• Metro 1 (Montgomery stop) - 9-min walk
• Metro 1 or 5 (Mérode stop) - 12-min walk
• Train (Mérode station) - 12-min walk
• Train (Etterbeek station), then take the connection with Tram 7 towards Heyzel or Tram 25 towards Rogier to the Georges Henri stop - 4-min walk
• Train (Gare Centrale), then take the connection with Metro 1 towards Stockel to the Joséphine-Charlotte stop - 9-min walk
