Do you enjoy knitting or crocheting but feel lost when it comes to choosing a yarn for a project? Are you unclear when people talk about suri, alpaca, mohair, carded, combed or plied yarn? Multiple strands or roving? Do terms like "superwash" or "virgin wool" make no sense to you?

We will clarify all this together during this two-hour theoretical workshop. This workshop is the cousin of our successful course "I discover fabrics".

No prerequisites for this course, we start with the basics 😊. Welcome to complete beginners as well as intermediates and advanced learners who can still gain knowledge during this course!

We will explore together:

  • the materials and origins of different yarns
  • the main stages of yarn preparation and the different outcomes
  • the specific vocabulary around what is commonly called "wool"
  • the appearances and uses of different yarns

The course includes:

  • 2 hours of theory on fabrics by an experienced teacher
  • a practical presentation of fabrics so you can touch and discover the different materials
  • smiles, kindness and respect for everyone

It is recommended to bring your own materials for note-taking (paper and pencil) if you wish to revisit the subject at home.
