I discover the quilt assembly
Do you want to get started with patchwork?
Do you have pieces of fabric, scraps that you would like to repurpose?
Do you do embroidery (classic, sashiko...) that you would like to incorporate into larger projects?
Do you want to create clothing with fabric scraps?
Then why not learn the techniques of patchwork?
We will learn together the right gestures, the proper methods, while explaining the theoretical concepts.
The prerequisites for this course are knowing how to use a sewing machine and having precision in its use (straight sewing, basic pinning...).
During these 3 sessions of 2h30 courses, you will learn:
- the specific vocabulary of patchwork
- the history and anatomy of patchwork/quilting
- the basic equipment for patchwork and fabrics
- cutting with a rotary cutter (safely)
- the assembly and ironing technique
- creating your first blocks/assemblies
- assembling your first project
We will complete together 1 (or several) full project(s) depending on your wishes: a cushion cover that will allow you to discover creating a project from start to finish.
The course includes:
- 3 x 2h30 of guided sewing with an experienced instructor
- sewing on quality Janome Sewist 780 electronic machines
- provision of basic materials: scissors, pins, thread…
- provision of fabrics for cutting tests and first assemblies
- smiles, kindness, and respect for everyone
The course price does not include:
- fabrics and batting for the final project, which you will choose during the first course according to your preferences. You benefit from a 10% discount on fabric purchases in the shop.
- cutting equipment such as rotary cutter, ruler, and cutting mat, which you can buy in our kit (see course price with or without kit). If you already have this equipment, please bring it to the course.
The cutting kit includes: a self-healing cutting mat, a 28mm rotary cutter, a 60cm patchwork ruler, with a retail value of €78 for the complete kit.
Enjoy nearly 25% off your kit by choosing the course + kit option.
This course may require homework between session 2 and 3 (especially if you decide to make several cushion tops; we will discuss this in the first course)
