Do you want to get started with patchwork?
Do you have pieces of fabric, scraps that you would like to upcycle?
Do you do embroidery (classic, sashiko...) that you would like to incorporate into larger pieces?
Do you want to create clothes with fabric scraps?

So why not start learning patchwork techniques?

We will learn together the right movements, the correct methods, while explaining the theoretical concepts.

The prerequisites for this course are knowing how to use a sewing machine and having precision in its use (straight sewing, basic pinning...).

During these 3 sessions of 2h30 classes, you will learn:

  • the specific vocabulary of patchwork
  • the history and anatomy of patchwork/quilting
  • basic patchwork tools and fabrics
  • cutting with the rotary cutter (safely)
  • assembly and ironing techniques
  • creating your first blocks/assemblies
  • assembling your first piece

We will make together 1 (or several) complete project(s) depending on your wishes: a cushion cover that will allow you to discover creating a piece from start to finish.

 The course includes:

  • 3 x 2h30 of sewing accompanied by an experienced teacher
  • sewing on quality Janome Sewist 780 electronic machines
  • the provision of basic materials: scissors, pins, thread…
  • the provision of fabrics for cutting tests and initial assemblies
  • smiles, kindness, and respect for everyone

The course price does not include:
- the fabrics and batting for the final project which will be chosen in the first class according to your preferences. You get 10% off fabric purchases in the shop.
- the cutting tools: cutter, ruler, and cutting mat which you can purchase in our kit (see course price with or without kit). If you already own this equipment, please bring it to the class.

The cutting kit includes: a self-healing cutting mat, a 28mm rotary cutter, a 60cm patchwork ruler, with the full kit retail value being €78.
Benefit from a nearly 25% discount on your kit by choosing the course + kit option.

This course may require homework between session 2 and 3 (especially if you decide to make several cushion tops; we will discuss this in the first class)
