Sewing – I'm sewing my first garment

Have you always dreamed of being able to sew your own clothes? You may have already sewn accessories and small projects, but never dared to jump into making your very first garment? Then the "Je couds mon premier vêtement" course is made for you!

Together, we will learn how to make your first garment!

The prerequisites for this course are to be independent when using a sewing machine and to feel comfortable using it. If you have taken the " je découvre la couture " course, you can join this one.

During these 4 sessions of courses, you will learn:

• how to take your measurements
• how to decipher a commercial pattern
• how to trace this pattern on paper to your measurements
• how to read the assembly instructions
• sewing techniques specific to dressmaking

Together, we will complete 1 garment project (blouse, dress or skirt for women - unlined jacket for men).
Women will have a choice among about fifteen patterns.
Men will be guided towards a lovely unlined jacket.

The course includes:

• 4 x 2h30 of sewing guided by an experienced teacher
• sewing on quality Janome Sewist 780 electronic machines and Juki overlockers
• access to basic equipment: scissors, pins, thread, ruler, tracing paper…
• the pattern in its Printed version that you have chosen to make
• smiles, kindness, and respect for everyone
• a complimentary drink at each course

Consumables (fabric, matching thread, potential bias tape, lace…) to make the garment are not included in this price.

For the intensive session, please come at least 1 week before the course to choose your design and fabrics, so you can wash and iron them before the first class.

• Train (Etterbeek station) - 5 minutes walk
• Tram 8 (ULB stop) - 15 minutes walk or connection with Bus 71 to Cimetière d'Ixelles
