Sewing – I'm sewing my first shirt

Are you dreaming of sewing your first men's or women's shirt, but don't dare to start on your own because collar techniques, cuffs, and buttonholes intimidate you?
If you have at least an intermediate or confirmed/advanced sewing level and are looking for a challenge in your next sewing projects, why not come and sew your first shirt with me?

Two Pattern models will be offered—one men's and one women's—so that you can make a shirt or blouse featuring all the signature elements: collar, placket, sleeve slit, cuff, buttonhole...

Together, we will make the pattern of your choice from the two options, both of which have a similar difficulty level. These two models will allow us to cover all the interesting technical points during the course. 

During these 5 course sessions of 2h30 each, we will cover together:

- theoretical explanations regarding the machine, specific notions... 
- the specificities of the shirt: collar, collar stand, sleeve slit, cuff, placket, buttonhole.
- practical applications, including the specific steps to execute the technical points
- making a Toile and fitting adjustments
- and of course, creating your very first shirt

The course includes:

• 5 x 2h30 of guided sewing with an experienced teacher
• the Printed pattern and tracing paper needed for pattern transfers and adjustments
• calico fabric for the test Toile
• sewing on high-quality electronic Janome Sewist 780 machines and Juki Kirei serger
• access to essential tools: scissors, pins, thread, Japanese ruler, needles...
• smiles, kindness, and respect for everyone

Required level for this course: intermediate+/advanced.
- You must have already sewn several garments (know how to trace a pattern, understand fabric grainlines and pattern pieces, manage seam allowances, cut fabric...)
- You must be autonomous in using a sewing machine (know how to thread it, adjust stitch length...)
