I copy my favorite garment
Your favorite garment is getting old but you can't part with it? Would you like to be able to duplicate it endlessly?
We offer to copy it, without unpicking or damaging it, so you can remake it as many times as you want!
During this training, we will learn the necessary steps to reproduce a garment according to the rules of the craft.
The course includes:
- theoretical patternmaking concepts: reproduction techniques, translating a garment (3D) into a pattern (2D)
- practical work with model creation
- theoretical assembly concepts: assembly sequence, project-related joining techniques, and appropriate finishing
- making a toile
For simple garments like t-shirts, sweatshirts, simple blouses, simple skirts: a complete toile can be made during the second course.
For complex garments like pants, complex tops, coats, lined garments... it may happen that the course time does not allow finalizing a definitive toile (without adjustment).
You are offered to work at home between courses or to complete your course cycle by adding an extra workshop (in open workshop - schedule to be discussed based on availability)
This course is aimed at intermediate or higher level sewists
It is necessary to have sewn at least 10 different garments.
We recommend that people with no patternmaking knowledge choose a simple garment like a t-shirt, hoodie, skirt, elastic waist shorts… and avoid complex garments like shirts, coats, lined garments,...
People with patternmaking knowledge or advanced sewing skills can propose more complex garments.
The group is limited to 6 people maximum.
The course includes:
- 3 x 2h30 of guided sewing with an experienced instructor
- sewing on quality Janome Sewist 780 electronic machines
- provision of basic materials: scissors, pins, thread…
- pattern paper for tracing
- smiles, kindness, and respect for everyone
- unlimited drinks
