Sewing – I copy my favourite garment

Is your favourite garment getting old, but you just can’t bear to part with it? Would you love to be able to recreate it as many times as you like?
We’ll show you how to copy it without unpicking or damaging it, so you can make it again whenever you want! 

During this course, we’ll learn the steps needed to reproduce a garment properly. 
The course includes:
- theoretical pattern-drafting concepts: reproduction techniques and translating a garment (3D) into a pattern (2D)
- practical application through creating the pattern
- theoretical construction concepts: order of construction, assembly techniques suited to the project and appropriate finishes
- making a toile

For simple garments such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, simple blouses and simple skirts, a complete toile can be made during the third class. 

For complex garments such as trousers, complex tops, coats, lined garments... there may not be enough class time to complete a final toile (without adjustments).
You can work on your project at home between classes or extend your course cycle with an additional workshop (open studio – schedule to be discussed according to availability). 

This course is intended for intermediate sewists and above.
You must already have sewn at least 10 different garments.
If you have no pattern-drafting experience, we recommend choosing a simple garment such as a T-shirt, hoodie, skirt or elasticated-waist shorts… and avoiding complex garments such as shirts, coats and lined garments.
If you have pattern-drafting knowledge or an advanced sewing level, you can bring a more complex garment.
Nota bene: Choose a garment that you will be able to sew afterwards. If you have never sewn the garment you want to copy (for example, a shirt or technical trousers), or if you feel you do not yet have the sewing skills needed to construct essential elements of the garment (for example, a welt pocket or fly), we will guide you towards sewing classes suited to your level so that you can acquire the skills needed to complete your entire project successfully. 

The group is limited to a maximum of 6 people. 

 The course includes:

• 3 x 2h30 of guided sewing with an experienced teacher
• sewing on high-quality Janome Sewist 780 electronic machines
• use of basic equipment: scissors, pins, thread…
• pattern paper for tracing
• smiles, kindness and respect for everyone
• unlimited drinks

Our classes take place in our workshops: 
Either in Ixelles:  Avenue de la couronne, 357 1050 Ixelles
Or in Woluwe Saint Lambert: Avenue Georges Henri, 328 1200 Woluwe Saint Lambert
