SUPER TWEED is one of Fonty's iconic threads. Made up of 95% fine wool, which provides softness and elasticity, and 5% Mohair fibre which gives a shiny appearance and loftiness, SUPER TWEED is a carded thread with an extraordinary feel.

Within the family of tweeds (threads with small deliberately random coloured flecks), SUPER TWEED is unique on the market, as it is the only one made entirely of natural fibres. Indeed, its coloured flecks are exclusively made of naturally dyed wool, unlike others. The main fibre is dyed in loose form before being spun into thread, and the flecks are added to an already pigmented material. This method of dyeing raw material rather than colouring a thread also allows for the creation of three subtly shaded colours for each dye batch, by mixing dyed loose fibre with undyed loose fibre. This deliberate choice of a more demanding manufacturing method reduces dyeing operations, and thus their ecological impact, while ensuring coherent colour blends.

SUPER TWEED is a 2-ply thread, moderately twisted, of medium thickness, which is knitted with size 5 needles. Ideal for Irish sweaters, ribs, and winter accessories, SUPER TWEED is versatile and suitable for all types of work.
