OMBELLE belongs to the family of mohair threads.
OMBELLE combines 75% mohair fibre, which provides a misty, fuzzy, and fluffy aspect, with a binding fibre ("core of the thread") made of 20% natural wool and 5% polyamide material; the latter adds strength and elasticity while helping to form the loops. Mohair fibre is the fleece of this particular breed of goats originating from the Caucasus, now mostly raised on the high plateaus of South Africa, although high-quality herds have been developing in France for several years. Fonty selects fine, long, and uniform fibres from herds of young animals.

OMBELLE can be knitted alone, doubled, or even tripled, or blended with other threads to achieve subtle combinations that pair the visual effect of mohair with the qualities of other materials (softness, shine, elasticity, durability). The range of OMBELLE colours is wide, mixing very bright tones with more neutral shades.

The OMBELLE thread, knitted alone, is recommended for needles #3.5 to 4. This thread is preferably hand washed, with mild soap (Marseille soap, preferably organic), without wringing, dried flat.
