Do you love checks but feel nervous about matching them?
Do beautiful large flowers appeal to you, but you dislike seeing misaligned prints on your handmade clothes?
Would you like your trouser pockets to match the print?...
In short, is understanding how to match prints and putting it into practice in your sewing one of your goals?
Then sign up for our theoretical and practical print-matching module.

Together we will learn:

  • how to understand print direction and what to look out for when matching prints in a garment
  • which key points in the pattern matter for perfect matching
  • how to cut fabric according to the pattern and print
  • how to match prints in practice

The prerequisite for this course is knowing how to use a sewing machine. Anyone who has taken the ‘discovering sewing’ or ‘sewing my first garment’ course is welcome at this themed workshop.
English speakers are welcome!

The group has a maximum of 6 students.

The course includes:

  • 1 x 2 hours and 30 minutes of technical explanations
  • 1 x 2 hours and 30 minutes of sewing a project or project sections (particularly cutting and print matching)
  • practice fabrics to create your first matched prints
  • Use of sewing machines and an overlocker (depending on your level)
  • Basic equipment provided: scissors, pins, black or white overlocker thread…
  • smiles, kindness and respect for everyone

Not included: fabric and specific supplies for your personal project
For the course, you need to bring washed and ironed woven fabric (cotton poplin, serge, twill...) on which you would like to practise print matching (personal project)
