Sewing: I sew my first pair of denim trousers

Do you dream of sewing your own trousers and jeans but hesitate to start because the fly and the thicknesses intimidate you?
Do you have an intermediate/advanced sewing level and want a challenge for your next sewing projects? Then why not come and sew your first jeans with me?

The pattern we will make together is the Sunshine model from Iam patterns, which is a classic pair of jeans that has all the features of jeans. It will allow us to cover all the interesting technical points during the course. Moreover, it is easy to alter if you want, for example, to widen the leg for a more flared cut...

During these 5 sessions of 3 hours each, we will cover together:

- theoretical explanations about denim, sewing denim, specific threads, needles to use
- the specifics of jeans (pockets,…) with a bit of history 😊
- practical applications, especially the specifics of making pockets, topstitching, seams specific to working with jeans
- making a test garment and adjustments
- and finally, of course, making your first jeans with the installation of the famous fly

The course includes:

• 5 x 3-hour sewing sessions guided by an experienced teacher
• the paper pattern and cutting paper needed for tracing and alterations
• calico fabric for the test garment
• sewing on quality electronic machines Janome Sewist 780 and overlocker Juki Kirei
• provision of basic tools: scissors, pins, thread, Japanese ruler, jeans needles…
• a smile, kindness, and respect for everyone

Required level for this course: intermediate+/advanced.
- It is necessary to have already sewn several garments (know how to trace a pattern, understand the orientation of pieces, manage seam allowances, cut fabric,...)
- It is necessary to be autonomous in using the sewing machine (know how to thread it, adjust stitch length...)
