Do you dream of sewing your own pants and jeans but hesitate because the fly and layers intimidate you?
Do you have an intermediate/advanced sewing level and want a challenge for your next sewing projects? Then why not come sew your first jeans with me?

The pattern we will make together is the Sunshine model from Iam patterns, a classic jean that includes all the typical features of jeans. This will allow us to cover all the interesting technical points during the course. Moreover, it is easy to modify if you want, for example, to widen the bottom for a more flared cut...

During these 5 sessions of 3 hours each, we will cover together:

- theoretical explanations about denim, sewing denim, specific threads, and needles to use
- the specifics of jeans (pockets, etc.) with a bit of history 😊
- practical applications including pocket construction details, topstitching, and seams specific to working with jeans
- making a toile and adjustments
- and of course, the creation of your first jeans with the installation of the famous fly

The course includes:

  • 5 x 3-hour sewing sessions guided by an experienced instructor
  • the printed pattern and cutting paper needed for tracing and modifications
  • calico toile for the test garment
  • sewing on quality electronic machines: Janome Sewist 780 and Juki Kirei serger
  • access to basic tools: scissors, pins, thread, Japanese ruler, jeans needles…
  • smiles, kindness, and respect for everyone

Required level for this course: intermediate+/advanced.
- You need to have already sewn several garments (know how to trace a pattern, understand piece orientation, manage seam allowances, cut fabric, etc.)
- You need to be autonomous in using a sewing machine (know how to thread it, adjust stitch length, etc.)
If you’re unsure about your level, don’t hesitate to contact me 😊
