Pattern Making – Module 1: Learn to make your own custom-fit clothes

Have you always dreamed of being able to create your own clothes tailored to your body shape?
Maybe you have already tried to draw your own patterns, or perhaps you have tried to alter your clothes to adjust them, without success.
Would you like your clothes to fit you "like a glove" and feel disappointed by the patterns available in shops or ready-to-wear stores?
Do you feel like nothing fits you... then learn how to make your own custom-made clothes! Whether you are a size 32 or 60, this pattern making course is made for you!

Together, we will learn the basics of pattern making with a solid theoretical part to fully understand the principles of pattern construction.
We will start with the basic skirt, which will allow us to lay the theoretical and practical foundations before moving on to Module 2: the bodice.

The prerequisites for this course are:
- to have at least an intermediate level in sewing
- to have sewn about twenty different patterns

During these 7 course sessions of 3 hours, you will learn:

• The theoretical jargon of pattern making, the necessary equipment, ...
• How to take the measurements required for pattern construction
• How to build a basic custom-made skirt adapted to your body shape
• How to make toiles and correct them
• How to modify the placement of Clips and their number
• How to modify your basic skirt (pleats, godets, pencil, flared...)
  
• How to create waistbands, facings, and top-quality skirt finishes
• How to analyze ready-to-wear garments to recreate them "by yourself".

You will leave with your basic skirt, which will become your master model for all skirt (and dress bottom) transformations.
The instruction you receive will enable you to create any type of custom-made skirt for yourself or those around you.

The course includes:

• 7 x 3h of pattern making guided by an experienced teacher
  
• paper notes for exercises
• sewing on high-quality electronic Janome Sewist 780 machines and Juki sergers
• access to basic equipment: scissors, pins, thread, ruler, drafting paper…
  
• smiles, benevolence, and respect for everyone
• a complimentary drink at each course

A "pattern making" kit can be purchased as part of this course, containing all the necessary supplies for drafting models, reproducing them, and testing (toiles). It includes a Japanese ruler, a french curve, 2m of calico, cardboard to reproduce the basic skirt, a pattern tracing wheel, and grid paper.

A catch-up session is possible during open workshop courses in case of illness or justified absence.

Payment in installments is available with a 50% deposit upon booking and the remaining 50% paid at the beginning of the month of the training.
