An ultra-feminine style with a loose fit

What you will learn with this pattern: make a partial opening with button and loop, make ruffles, apply bias at the neckline.

Material suggestions:

  • Main fabric

Cotton fabric: poplin, lightweight twill, voile, double gauze, soft denim, crepon, plumetis. Linen for summer. Fine corduroy for winter. Cotton viscose blends or 100% viscose, tencel, modal, lightweight and soft denim (or chambray). Do not use thick material because of gathers and ruffles.

  • Lining option

Voile or poplin (cotton or polyester)

  • 11-12mm buttons (front buttoning and cuffs)
  • fine fusible interfacing

 Ruffles are more beautiful when made in a single piece without a seam at the shoulder. They are then cut on the fabric fold. However, for widths of 110 cm, I suggested placing the ruffles vertically because it is not possible to cut the ruffles on the fabric fold for most sizes. This is also the case with fabrics 140 cm wide for sizes 10/11/12 years. The fabric widths are not large enough. Also, this vertical placement of the ruffles on the cutting plan saves fabric but requires a seam at the shoulder (so you need less fabric in 110 cm width for smaller sizes than in 140 cm where the ruffles are cut on the fold and thus in one piece... you can adapt depending on whether you prefer ruffles in one piece or less fabric consumption).
