When we received the pattern Ehola by Coralie Bijasson in our mailbox, Marie Hélène, Céline and I fell for it! It must be said that the t-shirt is a wardrobe staple in every season. Moreover, having nice t-shirts with pretty designs in your wardrobe allows you to create many trendy looks.
It is always nice to sew with other "sewing friends" and to chat about the pattern, its construction, its making... Ehola immediately spoke to us, here we love jersey which we find very practical to wear during our busy shop days. Ehola had everything to please us!We will tell you about our sewing experience!

The model
Whether worn with short sleeves in summer or long sleeves in winter under a thick sweater, the t-shirt is an essential basic of the wardrobe. The Ehola t-shirt model offered by Coralie has a really nice design that allows us to vary pleasures, to create comfortable basics while remaining chic.
Indeed, its boat neckline gives it a touch of femininity and delicacy, highlighting the décolletage for an ultra-feminine look. It is offered in two options: classic round neckline or flattering V-neck.
You can also make it in short sleeve or long sleeve versions.
So there are 4 combinations offered for this model, perfect for sewers looking for a timeless feminine piece or beginners wanting to try sewing jerseys.

Practical information for sewing the model
Ehola is a model created by Coralie Bijasson, one of our favorite French pattern makers!
It is available in printed or PDF format.
Ehola is available from size S to size 3XL which allows both the slender and the curvier to sew this very feminine model.
Ehola is rated easy and it is perfect for beginner sewers who want to try jersey as well as for the more experienced who will be happy to quickly make a great basic.

In the sewer’s basket
To sew Ehola, you will necessarily need a stretch fabric of the jersey type. It must be of good quality to ensure a nice drape and a beautiful placement of your neckline (otherwise it may ripple or gape). Coralie recommends using a jersey with at least 40% elasticity to achieve the desired drape.
For the short sleeve version, you will need 1.1m of jersey
For the long sleeve version, you will need 1.5m of jersey
Don’t forget to get jersey needles to sew your t-shirt, standard 80 will be perfect; as well as a double needle to make your hems.
For the thread choose a good quality thread such as Gütermann, Metler... to ensure the durability of your seams.
If you want to ensure greater longevity for your t-shirt you can also add a piece of stay tape in the shoulder seams.

Our supplies
We made three very different versions of the same model.
Marie-Hélène chose the version with the V neckline. For size, she opted for S widened to L at the hips. Another change: the sleeves cut to 3/4 length, very practical to have covered arms but free hands and wrists. She also shortened and lengthened the body in a few places, because she knows her shape well. These are exactly the kind of changes we can assist with in the workshop.
Céline made the round neck and short sleeve version in a indigo blue interlock jersey from Mind the Maker, for the neckline Céline chose a sparkly ribbing from her personal stock. Céline sewed a size S.
As for me, I made the round neck and lengthened sleeves version (I call it vintage length 😂) in a "joly coupon" of 3m caramel floral that had been catching my eye for a while! I also sewed size S.
Difficulty level and technical points of Ehola
You can sew Ehola entirely with a serger (except the V of the neckline if you choose this option) or with a sewing machine using a stretch stitch.
Ehola is rated simple and we agree with this rating.
The most difficult points are:
- making the point of the V neckline
- setting in the sleeves
- hems with the double needle.

Our sewing experience
Céline and I sewed our first version of Ehola on a Sunday afternoon in about 2 hours without rushing and chatting 😂. We loved sewing this basic. Marie-Hélène made hers at home just as quickly.
Some extra tips:
- I would say that to make a nice point at the V neckline, I advise you to notch the neckline
- for my next version, given my height I will reduce the height of the neckline band which is a bit wide for small statures. (I am 1.53m tall).
- If you are very slim at the waist, it might be interesting to take it in to highlight your waist, because this model is designed straight
- If you have a coverstitch machine or a combination machine, it can be great for your hems
Marie-Hélène also notched the V for a neat neckline. For her version, the neckline band was also a bit stretched when sewn and caused some wrinkles on the garment. But after a good ironing and when worn, no one notices!

Here are our versions of Ehola that we loved sewing!
As usual, we had a lot of fun during the photo shoot. I hope you will have as much fun as we did with this model!
